All jokes aside, this song is brilliant. Olly begins with the standard villain spiel; "You shall be no more, resistance is futile, etc.", even hinting at his motivations with "The hubris of paper leads only to perdition". However, Olly is soon interrupted by another villain: Bowser. After the initial barrage of insults, Bowser comments on how the atrocities Olly has commited are WAY too far, even for a fellow final boss. Olly berates Bowser for his short-sightedness (which is, honestly, quite true) and quickly diverts the conversation to his pet and current boss: The Fanged Fastener itself, Stapler. And here's my favorite part of the song; Juno manages to convey a slightly obsessed, mad king extolling the virtues of his pet, only thing is, these virtues are exclusively its birthright and tricks it can do to please him, evidenced by its most impressive trick being hailing the Origami King. Bowser is quick on the retort, commenting on Olly's last-ditch effort being siccing his dog on Mario. Also, the rhythm of the bounce and trounce lines is relevant for later, but for now, they are simply a means of expressing Mario's capability of laying a smackdown, and are followed up with Bowser validating his claims using his experience with the Pesky Plumber, Mario. Olly, ironically, comments on Bowser talking too much and then proceeds to taunt the Koopa King by stating that he has not only claimed his beloved army, he has also won because of that. Then the chorus kicks in. With every sentence beginning with "Soon", a catchy and memorable rhythm is established, alongside of the perfect mixture of villanous boasting, demoralization and motivation-showing. The latter seems as if it is unintentional and derived from the Origami King''s hate at that moment in time. He also hints at the Stapler being the thing that is holding most of Olly's army together, and taunts Mario with the mention of Peach. The spoken word segment has Olly reassuring his dog, Bowser insulting Olly and Olly stating that their resistance is futile. We also get to hear the woofs from the totally legit version, a fun nod and a nice detail. Then, a bombshell drops: Olly tells the Stapler to "Sic them". It can be inferred that, originally, Olly wanted Mario and Bowser to be folded soldiers, but now, Olly just wants them dead. In the second verse, Olly insists that the gang will be stopped, bound and reshaped into their puppets, and then again pokes at Mario's wounds with the mention of Peach. Bowser tells Olly to shut up, and proclaims that his nemesis is too strong to submit. Bowser, filled with paternal rage, states that Olly was responsible for Junior being cut up, clearly crossing a line. The Koopa King also puts his faith in his nemesis, and proceeds to extoll HIS virtues to Olly, a nice bit of contrast and characterization. Bowser does not seems begrudging, he, in fact, seems proud of his rival. He laments about how he has taken Mario's punishment for many games, compliments Mario's determination, foreshadows the fate of Stapler, calls out the game's pretty dramatic plot and uses "hail the Origami King" in a way that reinforces Mario's might. And to add to the pile of contrasts, Olly notes that the party underestimates Stapler' power, and repurposes the rhythm from Bowser's "trounce and bounce" line to agrandize the Stapler. He also talks about how his vision (another not-so-subtle motivation hint) will not be impeded. The chorus drops, alongside Juno's art that makes me angry I do not have enough devices to have the entire LoS as wallpapers for each of them. As Mario snaps Stapler, it whimpers, and Olly stays silent. Apathy? Shock? Rage? Sadness? Nobody will ever know... Juno is a master lyricist, and he spend this song basically flexing his contrast muscles for our benefit. 10/10, amazing song, can't wait for the 19th!

I love how the Totally legit stapler lyrics are actually legit we just never got to hear King Ollys part. But it just makes sense that Bowser and Olly sing considering that the Stapler is still a Dog

The line “a pristine pedigree, the brightest I could get” is amazing - a pedigree refers to a dog’s genetic records, specifically those that prove the dog is a purebred. For someone who’s so obsessed with an origami master-race, it makes perfect sense that he’d only accept a perfectly pure pup.

Ah yes, the finale to the trilogy of the fanged firearm: Staple Gun and Olly (Ft. YAPE from the Paper Maper may Origami Korigami series) In all seriousness, the last scene reminded me how brutal Mario is to the stationary in particular. In the span of the game, Mario: 1. Crammed explosive down an arsonist artist’s throat. 2. Dismembered a narcissistic actor and threw their corpse backstage. 3. Disemboweled a canniballistic disco dancer and forced him to expel the half eaten remains of his friends. 4. Yanks all the hair off a mafioso after trying to make their motorcycle crash. 5. Deep froze a samurai and have them die of hypothermic shock. 6. Snap a dog’s jaw in half. If the stationary were normal characters, the age rating would have been a lot higher.

I love the fact that throughout this song, Bowser just raps about how good of a nemesis that Mario is, and that he never gives up. Bowser truly respects Mario as his opponent, nemesis, and long time (potential) frenemy, and that they are willing to work with one another when needed.

Just thought I'd make a Bowser chorus cause I like the idea of them clashing at the chorus. "Soon, we will take back the princess and restore her form. Soon, we will triumph over you in our flat paper norm, Soon, fangled shackles will fall from the beast in defeat, Soon, we will roar in triumph once you have been beat" (Optional - Have Olivia Go - "Ooooool..... lyyyyy...... Pleeease..... Ceeeeease" to counter the Stapler howl) They're pretty bad but it was the best I could think of lol.

Olly sounds so calm yet dangerous in this song, especially in the chorus where every sentence starts with “soon”. It reminds me of in Harry Potter how sometimes Voldemort talks very calmly but it makes him even more dangerous. Putting that feeling in a music video that’s less than 4 minutes long is an impressive feat. Incredible job, Juno.

Originaly I had no idea how this song could work but it being olly and bowser with the stapler making barking noises and even in the end whimpering is both impressive and makes one feel actually bad for breaking his jaw! What I am trying to say is that all these songs were phenomenal and I am glad that now people can't beg you anymore to do the rest of the songs.

THE STAPLER BARKING MAKES ITS GLORIOUS RETURN also ft some other dudes I guess The change of the dynamic from simply a boss's villain song to a clash between Bowser and Olly is such a brilliant take - especially with Olly's more formal villainous language to Bowser's slang and insult-flinging. The upbeat yet menacing rhythm is carried through well, especially during the low bouncy section - and even when the melody gets real fast!
