Jurassic Park is a timelss classic, it doesn´t matter how many times you watch it you love it; Jurassic World was really good but lacks a lot of what make the first JP so great.

The 1 thing that has always peeved me about the new trilogy is that the animation looks cartoony. Just look at how realistically the dinosaurs in the old movies move. They move like animals, real animals. The dinos in the new movies move like they're supposed to be in an animated movie not a live-action. They move like they have no real weight. It's like how the robots move in Pacific Rim: Uprising, where the first Pacific Rim had more realistic movement.

@@crosshair4132 His point is that he has to suspend a lot of disbelief in order to enjoy the movie. The physics of the movement in JW takes one away from the immersive experience they absolutely want to have.

Word by word what I have been saying for almost 3 decades, The first Jurassic Park CGI dinosaurs look very well integrated in the live action footage, as if they were real objects being captured on camera, the movement was subtle and natural because they brought experts to ensure realism, like Phil tipped and Jack Horner. And they had only a fraction of the polygons and pixels the newer versions have. With these "world" movies they just use mouse click animation from pixar movies which experience is exaggerated CARTOON expressions. They just don't care to be at the level of the original, with nearly 30 years of technological advance, there is no excuse for this garbage, now video games look more real and movies faker.

Jurassic World looks better but you can tell all the dinosaurs takes are fake, and even with the good CGI they have (because is nice) it breaks the illusion of danger. With the Original Jurassic Park movies the animatronics and the real costumes makes you enter on the illusion that the characters are facing real danger. And because of that real costumes and animatronics, they had a great reference to know exactly how to make the CGI dinosaurs look realistic with the 1993 technology limitation And that makes the first movie amazing

@@sem_skywalker it's better at a technical level, but it fails because we still notice it, on the old Jurassic Park the mix of Practical and Computer effects sell the illusion of realism but in jurassic world you allways know you are watching a fake dinosaur even if it's more advanced at a technical level

The biggest problem with CGI is the lighting is never precise and because of it, ends up popping out like a sore thumb. Once someone has mastered the lighting, it will be tough to distinguish practical from CGI. That said, I feel practical and CGI will always work the best together. SO, that said, Jurassic Park trilogy all the way.

JP looks better because back then the computer technology was so primitive each scene had to be carefully lit manually, every light carefully placed and calibrated by an artist in the digital scene to match the real footage. Nowadays it's too automatic so you lose the human precision and sensibility.

Jurassic World should have known to use animatronics for all close-up shots. The cgi wasn't good enough still to have such zoom-ins on the dinos. Hopefully they apply the lesson in the final entry of the trilogy. I know JW2 finally made more use of animatronics but they still need to do more.

I will always prefer the original saga. The special effects have aged very well and still today it is very enjoyable and it is that when using practical effects plus the digital effects the final result is more amazing and credible Secondly, it is somewhat unappreciated but both the color palette and the way of filming the scenes make the original trilogy convey the sensation of adventure and wonder very well, something that currently does not seem to be understood, because now all movies have dark and muted colors, horrible thing in an adventure and thirdly and too important. The music. The original saga, especially the first part, has one of the most emblematic songs there are, those glorious notes give you that feeling of seeing an animal as big and as majestic as a dinosaur is. and in this current installment unfortunately it did not become so present. they borrowed the song from the original saga but the implementation is not the same.

I think the reason Jurassic Park looks better is because of something I saw in another video in regards to old and new movies. The new movies are too clean. The effects, the lighting, the lenses are so clean that it sort of gives it a steril look whereas the old movies where wet, grainy, dark, sometimes out of focus. This gives it a more authentic look.

JP1 looks miles better, use of practical effects and colour grading makes everything look so realistic. Jurassic World looks like a film slapped with an Instagram filter and disengaging unrealistic CGI.

Do you notice how modern blue color grading and CGI exaggerated animation makes everything look more fake now than in 1993? It didn't look fake then, and doesn't look fake now. We had nearly 30 years of technological advances, are the new results lack of direction or lack of talent? There is just no excuse.

This makes me appreciate how much JW pays homage to the original JP. The original trilogy is still my favourite but I do have a little higher respect to the JW than I did before. I just watched the first JP movie again and I still had moments that left me feeling tense. Such an incredible film. Incredible film directing and story telling.
