I sing mostly classical and jazz, but any musician can appreciate the artistry here. I’ll be singing this with my husband at a Baptist church tomorrow morning.

So I am driving from the Arizona desert through the Nevada desert town of Goldfield, where I stop to take pictures of an old hotel I would love to own. It has such an old soul character, and supposedly haunted. I am parked in front of a radio station and this song is echoing in the street.. I am instantly in love with the whole picture. What is truly ironic is that as many gospel songs as they sung, Lester Flatt never gave his life to Christ til just before his passing. The song by Ricky Skaggs "Why Did I Wait So Long" was written after Lester was saved. It was said that after that, all he could say way why did I wait so long.

This is an unusual situation here. Earl very seldom played the banjo on gospel numbers. Usually he played the guitar. However, he did not take a banjo break here.
