Why? Jarl Borg proved his disrespect and disloyalty by taking Kattegat and killing Ragnar’s people. Harald was a king, Jarl Borg was a “Jarl”, not a king. If Ragnar killed Borg.. cool he killed an equal Jarl. Killing Harald made him a king. And besides in the sagas Harald and Ragnar are cousins. Descended from the same grandfather. And Ragnar’s father, King Sigurd Hring was also a king of Geatland, whine Harald got the western half of the kingdom containing the Danish Isles and Scaneland. Ragnar would not have been a farmer but a prince, the son of King of West Geatland. And grandson of the king of both Daneland and West Geatland.

Because this is not the Saga, and Borg was a little crazy but overall a reasonable man. He attacked Kattegatcbecause Ragnar didnt defend the word he gave to raid together and chose Horriks nonsense again to exclude and cheat him. Horrik was the one scheming, jelious and targeting Ragnar from the getgo. Horrik feared Ragnar and his fame. If Ragnar would have sided with Borg he'd be King and the top Dog in the lands, Borg be satisfied with just his Mine and not to be scamed. As remember the entire issue is Horrik saw Borg had a valuable reccource on his lands and just took claim to it. Borg didnt accept that, so Horrik sent Ragnar to "make him accept being scamed." Offering no fairness, no mutual middle ground even. Then when they made peace with the promise of spoils in England as well as soil to settle there, it was Horrik that broke and once more shit on the agreement. And this time Ragnar accepted and went with it. Wich Borg obviously understood as betrayal by booth. Horrik was always the problem. Borg had no crazy ambitions. And never just attacked.

It's the only reason I can think as to why he went back on the agreement to raid together, not to mention having Ragnar deliver said message. Heck he was even planning on freeing Borg after Ragnar captured him, so the in fighting could continue. - the whole line "without being defeated" shows Horriks mentally, oh we didn't lose... but could you please stop fighting us

Borg attack kattegat because of his wrong judgement thinking that ragnar was the one who break their agreement to raid england. But it was horik’s doing because ragnar didnt let rollo to come raid with them. I think if Ragnar team up with Borg, they will be the best buddies.

He is a hero in Nordic prehistoric saga literature. So why you say he was Norwegian? 😅 his sons where kings from Norwegian, Sweden and Denmark after his dead. But there was other names from the kingdoms. The three areas were roughly combined and the people were called Northmen and the empire is Scandinavia.

It is also clearly intended to be a deep fjord, witch the west has a few of, but this one appears iri like the Oslo fjord. Deep and wide yet narrow enough to throw a rock across on several place. Also wherry long, with the settlement at the ros of the fjord. (Deepest point from the sea. Associated with the outpour from rivers. "A ros" typically refer to the tiny island sometimes formed by rivers as they run into the sea in a fork.) But the language is not Norwegian. It's supposed to be old norse, but it's probably closer to a mix between old english, old norse and a typically Islandic delivery. As a Norwegian speaker I can hardly understand a word, and struggle with the structuring. I do like it though, and wish they used it more. I had some trouble with differentiation between the Saxons old english. That was wired to watch. They appear to speak pretty much the same language yet not understand each other. (Probably because history channel wanted authentic languages, and these peoples had been in contact for hundreds of years by the Viking age, and it probably started because of Charlemagne. Making it punishable by death for Christians to trade with pegans throughout Christendom, and cutting entire communities off from vital commerce. Also the slaughter- probably..)

@@aloblanko norway was in a union with denmark, not a colony of denmark. and this union lasted from rougly 1400s to 1814. before that norway consisted of dozens of petty kingdoms ruled by local kings, unified by king harald fairhair in 872. considering the viking era was between 782 and 1066, we can say ragnar lodbrok was norwegian. the danish were the least important of the three viking big viking tribes. you should learn some history before you shit out your ignorant opinions online.
