It's definitely a case of grass is greener. You don't know what you're taking for granted until you lose it. When you share a room with 5 other noisy people, live the unemployed life, you realize how valuable a routine is. A job that you're ok with is. I guess different strokes for different folks.

its not a scummy business its all owned and rigged from the start. if you have and pay for a house u temporally rent it for a time period that you are paying for it. as soon as you stop giving your money away they take your house away EVEN if you fully paid it off.

Being single isn't depressing either. If you're depressed, it's something else. Usually society and work. For me, that's what it was. The moment I let go of my 6 figure job (I make around 20k a year right now) my depression was healed. I LOVE being single now! I'm an introvert/ace so it works for me. I have lots of family and friends I can spend quality time with too. As for marriage, same thing. If you aren't depressed, you will find a good, equal match for yourself, and then the marriage will work out. You won't settle for the wrong person or be able to be manipulated by anyone into thinking they're "the one" either. Get right with your "Career." Be SO honest. I had to admit I hated my "calling" that I'd been doing for 15 years. It was humiliating. I had spent all that time telling everyone how much I loved my job because I thought I did. Even though I'd dread waking up every day and got so sick mentally and emotionally from it that my body also started to have physical ailments. This is all easier said than done, but also, the moment you take the leap it will immediately be so freeing and clear. It won't be easy out the gate, but over time, things that used to make you cry or make you sick to your stomach with worry feel about as bothersome as a mosquito. One little flick, and the worry is gone. I now care more about my health, my family, and my passions in life. I'm playing piano again, making art, building miniature displays (nerd alert lol!), and whatever else I want to do. I'm a more pleasant person to be around, and I've noticed despite also feeling terrified for our society as a whole, most people are feeling this shift. At least 4 of my friends have quit their jobs since me, and have all said I inspired them. A part of me is like...oh sht. I hope I don't lead anyone astray! But I've seen the light return to their eyes too. We still have bad days. I still cry. But it's not the same...it's not pure dread and hopelessness. I no longer have a secret wish that I'll be shot on my way to work so that I can be hospitalized for 6-8 weeks. I no longer wish I'd die peacefully in my sleep so I don't have to face the looming deadlines being piled on my by greedy CEO's who want things faster and faster for less and less pay and zero respect for the humans behind the work.

Have faith brother, don't give up. This upside down opposite world we live in is bad it's really bad and it's sad. I'm very broke and do very physical labor work oil field work. I work for my old man and he treats me like a slave unfortunately believe it or not. I'm white and 32, live in one of the most ugly houses in this tiny town here in Kansas. The truth is I figured out the whole meaning of life. Life's not easy trust me. I've been torn down so much in my 32 years of life. Yet this last year I've been happy. I found Jesus and witnessed the Holy Spirit with my own eyes. Jesus Christ loves you. If I can be broke and work these oil fields by myself getting paid Penny's to the dollar and still be happy. That should tell you something. I'm blessed with the little things I have. I have a crappy house, food, and water. Keep Faith and Hope. It's very hard. easier said than done of course. Don't give up.

I get it, I used to think a lot like this when I first started my career (and still do sometimes). But then I see a story about the young people in Ukraine on the battlefield or some kid with a genetic disorder where his skin is so weak that he has open wounds everywhere, and as cliche as it sounds, I realize my situation actually isn't that bad (in fact it's pretty good). The older I get, the more I realize that life isn't meant to be easy or come with any guarantees. You just have to do the best with what you are dealt and make your own happiness. A lot of it is just acceptance of this fact and changing your mindset. Not comparing yourself to others or being influenced by media (social or corporate) helps as well. You need to let go of the unrealistic expectations of life and happiness that you've been programmed to believe from a young age. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a pretty negative person. Its ok to complain or feel like you got screwed sometimes. But I try to not to let it drag me down too much. It's not that bad when you consider how harsh survival can be and how much worse off you can have it.

Soon someone will see you and they will start talking to you and you will make friends, humans are social beings. And in the USA, you all have lost that! People say,” I’m an animal person.” Well no we are all social beings and that is why when you are lonely you get depressed. There is much hope and much to do. You have to find your own happiness. We are all going through this in one form or another until we give up hope of any savior and learn how to change ourselves and stand up and create a system that is best for all. It will only get worse on earth. We cannot go into a form of hope looking for a savior or participate in any form of blame. Only a system that considers all life equally is the solution. Does that sound impossible? Sure. Is it because we have allowed ourselves to be brainwashed to believe it’s impossible? Yes. That is part of what makes it difficult. But it’s easier than it sounds considering how many people are waking up to how fucked the system we live in really is. We are creating it. We can change it.

Americans have created a society centered around work and productivity. Everything else is secondary or not even that. It's really not surprising the mental health crisis americans are having. Also everything seems purpose made to alienate from others. Take the car, you go from your house to your job and back in a metal box. If you work from home you won't even see people. I don't like to be around people much, but people is really the only thing that gives meaning to our lives, we just don't notice it. And sure, the USA is a money making super machine, but it doesn't fill human's real needs. People are starting to wake up to that. Also all those riches are mostly in the hands of like 3% of people, so common people don't even have real money to try to compensate for all that slaving work.

Also, if you don't like being Asian forget about haveing kids. However, that in itself won't stop the urge to reproduce. Ultimately, that's what it's all about, completing the life cycle as part of survival. But....aren't we surviving just fine being single and alone? Why must we create problems?

The more complex something is the more likely it is to break, especially nowadays with how much cheap materials and plastics they're using in the components as a cost cutting measure. That being said however i don't think the companies care all that much because most of them like the whole planned obsolescence anyways and also if nobody can make a reliable car than you don't have to worry about improving build quality to compete since consumers are shit outta luck in terms of finding an alternative that's all that much better.

Like I get that you could just go marry a Thai broad if you're a reasonably attractive Westren guy pretty easily but if you don't have a skill like the one I mentioned you'd then be getting paid Thai wages for whatever you're doing over there. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad I guess though if you're content with living somewhat minimalisticly. After all the average Thai person isn't really starving or anything like that so they manage to get by somehow.

@@hollowgonzalo4329In reality, you don’t need much to live on. Food, running water, shelter and some clothes. Access to good medical care is the one thing that might be lacking. But that’s it. We’ve been sold a lie of a consumerist society that makes us all work ourselves to death. Getting into a debt trap slavery situation to serve the ones at the top that have so elegantly engineered society, and the financial system. After 1971 when we got off the gold standard, they have been turning up the heat slowly like a frog boiling in water. Leaving the system, and not participating or as little as possible, and be as self sufficient as possible, this is where happiness and contentment can be found. You can even do it in the US in very rural areas if you can save enough to get a small plot of land that has low property taxes. Grind, save enough to get started in a rural area, learn homesteading and get the hell out.
