The radiator tubes poped out the radiator at the end, dumping all the water, thats why I had to stop, the sled was not overheating at all beforehand.

Very nice build sir! I would suggest an onboard temp gauge to help tune. Running in the snow (snowmobile) the water cooling might be too much... Head temp must stay 190-205 to be happy... Think of the fuel as coolant and if temps are high tune it so temps stay where they need to be. Very anxious to see how it works out for you.

That is freaking awesome what you are doing with that. I like the engine concept but that is one reason I like just the electric motors. Hard to get adjusted right. Every time you drive it the temperatures will be different and you will have to adjust it every time you go out. I hated having to adjust this with my trucks I had in the past. Once you get them running good they are awesome but we always had trouble adjusting them each time we took them out. Electric powered is awesome. Just got to buy a few extra batteries. LOL. Great job on the build though. That is awesome!

@Pascal Robert 15 plus years ago I had an original tmaxx with the .15 that I made liquid cooled, Gary Conley from Conley precision (famous for his 1/4 scale v8 engines) had a line called Perry.. that line was specifically for nitro fuel pumps, one was oscillating and ran off vibration of the engine, the other ran off pos./neg. Crank case pressure.. the later is the pump I used to circulate water through the system, they have regulators on them as well to control flow.. that pump is about the size of just the motor on your current pump, maybe even slightly shorter in length.. I beleive this would be an ideal approach with no electrical and a smaller overall footprint for space savings... Being able to regulate the flow of water through the system will be beneficial to the engine.. Another thing you may find out is the exhaust may cause issues, you may have to come up with some sort of homemade can with internal baffling of some sort to produce the back pressure needed to supply the tank with enough pressure to supply fuel.. a pipe obviously would be ideal as the waves in the pipe essentially supercharge the engine, but a can with internal baffling would still function, just not as well... but will be loads better than say an open header exit... All that being said, thank you for the upload and sharing your work with the world... what I see is an excellent cad skill set and a deep knowledge of mechanical things, I'm sure many many people will gladly purchase the stl's... (something to think about if they are not currently for sale) Again thank you for sharing, and I look forward to progress on this project, make sure you check out those pumps from Gary.. hopefully they are still available for you, I briefly hit Ebay and there is one on there for sale..

Thanks for your input, it's nice to see every once in awhile a comment that has more content then just two lines. I'm not the first one to water-cooled a RC. But I was the first to watercool successfully snowmobile (to my knowledge). Have not heard of these pumps, but the ones I got was quite cheap so for now I will probably stick with it. I don't think my flow is too aggressive to cause any problem to the engine itself. The main core of the head is quite chunky and the cooling is just around a head so it's a small space, and the engine can build up quite a bit of temperature with that middle chunk without hopefully causing too much problems temperature wise. For the exhaust, it was quite difficult to film it, but it's not open header, I've made a small expansion pipe with the proper dimensions of the Stinger related to the header size. So in theory it's supplies enough back pressure to pressurize the fuel line. It's not rocket science, but it's never meant to be a crazy horsepower engine in the first place. so I think it's going to work for now. That being said I'm grateful you took the time to type your comment. Questioning what people have done is a great way to improve them! Thanks!

Hearing that little nitro motor die and bog out brought back cold and dark memories unleashing my PTSD of painstaking endless frustration tuning those God forsaken little motors that belong in hell. In fact the definition of hell can be summed up as worse than eternal burning in a pit of fire, an endless assembly line of nitro rc motors to keep running.

@Pascal_Robert--Rc_Creations
@Pascal_Robert--Rc_Creations 4 жыл бұрын
The cooler is so big that it's not really a problem of the placement. Id rather have it more close to the center of mass. believe it or not the weight is actually similar to the weight of the other one. Maybe 500g heavier, so its not the end of the world. Hovever, that small 2.5 is not the most powerful engine so yes it's underpowered a bit...
