Hey everyone I just now posted my reaction to the last part of this trilogy of lights. It was the song Arkadia, and even with the watermark it got blocked. I'm not sure why because it's from the same show as this Starlight video from the reactors resource channel, and this one didn't get blocked. I'm leaving it posted in hopes that they'll unblock it. That's happened a couple of times before. If they leave it blocked I'll have no choice but to post it on my patreon page. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This video is from Legend Metal Galaxy show on Day-2 (Jan.26) in Makuhari, Japan. The Trilogy of Lights has been played in a row for the first time (with Riho Avenger) and the band in the girls' back was surprisingly West (American) Kami Band even in Japan. (I love them as much as the original East Kami who played on Day-1, the day before) Before this performance, however, there was another venue where the Trilogy of Lights in 3 girls formation (again with Riho) for the first time in the world although the order of performance was different. It was the Forum, LA on Oct. 11, 2019. "Da DA Dance" was also premiered there. The first arena show in USA was very special to BABYMETAL. Oh! I actually witnessed Starlight performed live two times at Budokan on Jan.19 / 20 this year with Momoko Avenger. That was, of course, breathtakingly beautiful with mesmerizing stage effect using laser and smoke.

Wow, i wouldn't expect that you jump so fast to the final 3 songs of latest 3rd BabyMetal album, this one is a journey and will really take you to places you've never been before, enjoy it. \m/ _10 Babymetal Budokan_ has already been released with full of new live versions to enjoy a lot more their songs, i know you won't have those songs available yet but i hope you can enjoy because those are such an experience you don't want to miss it. There's already a live comp of _"From Dusk Till Dawn"_ mixing proshot and fancam, you know i never like to recommend those live comps, but in this particular case, due to the reason that there's no other proshot version you could do an exception. Sorry for my contradiction ^^' There's still plenty of more versions to enjoy on these concerts but you can leave those for later. Starlight is the first song of the *Trilogy Of Lights* a set of songs with the last 3 songs from their 3rd album, those are: _Starlight, Shine, and Arkadia_ but fans took this set as an unofficial trilogy dedicated and tributed to Mikio Fujioka pass away and YuiMetal withdrawal, actually fans think this is a song dedicated to them judging by the lyrics context but like i said none of this was official. What's more interesting is for some people (japanese mostly) each songs are dedicated to specific member, Shine is like Moa's dance and song dedicated to Mikio-sama, and Arkadia is the song dedicated to YuiMetal. For me this song fits perfectly dedicated to Mikio-sama and YuiMetal, both. Just like SuMetal said when singing this song reminds her to YuiMetal. And because Mikio-sama used to love to observes stars, he actually fell off from a stargaze before he past away, also YuiMetal loves to watch the stars. But our queen also said that this song reminds her the sky full of stars on New Zeland, so this trilogy and their songs feeling you get it depends on your mood or state of mind. The song was released day after Yui left official announced (around the end 2018) and the official MV contains footage with BM lore about Chosen Seven and the Darkside, our girls (SuMetal and MoaMetal) appears only at the end. This was at Legend Metal Galaxy Day 2 with a set of songs to fit the "dark" side while Day 1 was the "Light" side, and you will hear this is even more heavy with the setlist and the Western Kami Band playing behind, and in case you didn't notice the intro is narrated by SuMetal in her very polished english (some might say "sunglish"?), don't forget is so hard for japanese people to learn proper english, our queen manage to improve a lot. Riho Sayashi is the avenger here, you will see her in some songs on these live concerts and together with all three avengers at an epic ending song on both nights along with both Kami Bands. KobaMetal talked about this in his last 10 Babymetal Legend History Live Book saying that this was an "special card" he wanted it to keep for 10 Babymetal anniversary at Budokan, but fortunately he did it before because the situation could have ruined the epicness on this. I'm glad you are doing the Trilogy of Lights and in the right order. Together they describe the stages of mourning we go through after losing somebody close. So 'Starlight' is about the initial grief and even anger. 'Shine' is about acceptance, coming to terms with the loss. 'Arkadia' is about moving on, looking to the future and better things yet to come. It has never been stated or confirmed by anybody in or attached to the band that this is a tribute to Mikio (RIP), but the lyrics certainly make it hard to believe that isn't the case. The official video for 'Starlight', along with the single, was also released on the same day in October 2018 that Yuimetal announced she would be leaving the band (she was absent for 12 months for undisclosed health reasons) and she also liked to star gaze, so maybe it does pay tribute to her as well. The Kami Band of the East starting wearing dark robes, but still had the white corpse paint, from the Legend S show in December 2017. Both the East and West Kamis all wear the masks and dark robes and have been doing so since the start of the 2019 tour, so telling them apart comes down more to recognising their guitars. Having said that, at the Legend Metal Galaxy shows where this performance was filmed the Kami Band of the East played Day 1 wearing their old white robes, the Kami Band of the West played day 2 in the dark robes. For the finale on each night all 8 Kamis (4 lead guitars, 2 bassists and 2 drummers) played together, the East in white robes, the West in dark robes.

This song is the most nostalgic of babymetal not only for the death of mikio but also for being a goodbye for Yui. All these things make this song so emotional and you can feel the admosphere.

The band here was the Western Kami Band, they performed the entire second night of the two Legend Metal Galaxy concerts. Also, the song is likely a tribute to Yui as well, who also liked to stargaze. Either way, it's a great song, and is generally considered a tribute to both, as it probably should be.

When Yui was unable to perform in 2017, they kept her spot open in hopes she would return. As you know she, officially left BM on 18 Oct 2018. "Starlight" was first teased on October 4, 2018, as part of a trailer for Babymetal's first graphic novel, Apocrypha: The Legend of Babymetal (2018). It was released as a digital single on October 19, 2018. Therefore, "Starlight" was written and produced before her official departure.

Nice reaction. I couldn't let you do the songs out of order I hope you enjoyed them. I see the meanings have already been explained, the easiest ways for me to recognize the difference between Kami bands is the western Kami's usually have wooden finished guitars and tattoos. Great shirt my first concert was King Diamond the Them tour.

Fun fact, they used the lights thing three times, At Tokyo Dome they had the neck braces with lights, white for the red night and red for the black night (confusing I know) then at Legend S Su's 20th Birthday concerts they had three eyed fox masks where the center eye lit up and at Legend M moa's 20th birthday they had gauntlets that had Led lights all were given to the audience to keep as gifts. At Legend S they also were given black hooded robes and a pendant with the XX symbol, and at Legend M I think they were also given little water bottles that look like potion bottles and little coin purses

Just Another... great reaction! :) So glad you did the trilogy, it's so special. The three songs are amazing but they are way better as a whole thing. This was Koba's "reaction" to what happened by late 2017 and 2018 (no more explanation needed). It was never credited to be a tribute to Mikio or even to Yui. But music is an art, the lyrics are so poetic and the meaning is not always obvious. It is just what you feel it is. This one is very emotional and we certainly feel it.

Babymetal does everything with excellence. Sets them apart.

The song "The One" with the lights on the neckbraces was at the Tokyo Dome in 2016, while Yui was still with the band, while this one was in 2020 :D A few fun facts: - Starlight is the first song where they used a 9 stringed guitar. Another one is BxMxC - Starlight has an official MV, and together with Distortion are the only 2 MV without the girls in it. Since they where recorded while YUI was still in hiatus, they didn't want to shoot a MV without her.

Ah the Trilogy of lights! I love all BABYMETAL but the trilogy is probably my favorite. The emotion in Su's voice is too hard to ignore in this song, it's hard to believe this isn't a tribute to Mikio. It would be nice to get an official confirmation on it but I like to believe it is. Its an epic song that Mikio would love and so are the other 2 songs. As for the Kami's, note too sure. I think Legend Metal Galaxy introduced the Western Kami's but had them play along side the original Kami's. Or I could be thinking of a different show. I'm sure someone in the comments will correct me. :) Can't wait for Shine!

Woo, trilogy time! I was thinking about recommending this to you on your last video, but I thought you might like some more fun stuff before diving back into the feels. ;) Regardless, I'm happy you're doing the trilogy, and GJ Kevin for making sure you knew about doing them in the right order. I love the chorus of Starlight, with Su holding that long note over the staccato, djenty rhythms. It really captures that feeling of the emotional pain and turbulence of losing someone.

Nice reaction. And a good suggestion to listen to these songs in order. Su said she use to sing this song with anger. You can hear it. I understand why too. A lot went down for Babymetal just before this album came out. Guitarist died. Yui left. one of the drummers brother died as well. And there was the idea if they should even continue as Babymetal. Many of their fans were mad when Yui left. I think they made the right choice. The third album has some great songs on it. The album as a whole is amazing. Su out did herself vocally. Moa really stepped up her game as well. Before many of the harmonies were Su back tracking herself. While Yui and Moa had there own parts to do. On this album you can hear Moa doing more of the back up harmonies as well as her own parts. Now on to Shine. For me the legend M performance is the one to go with. Enjoy

Like a lot of fans, the lyrics sound to me like a tribute to Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka. Since 'Starlight' is a song about loss, it's not too surprising that Su has said that she thinks about Yui when she sings this one. All three avengers rotated in the third spot during this concert. The supporting dancer for this song was Riho Sayashi. During her time in the Idol group Morning Musume, Riho was considered the absolute ace. She's now pursuing a solo career as a singer and actress.

Not just this song but the whole Trilogy is about loss acceptance, and moving forward IMO Mikkios death hit the whole BM team hard thus you have a very fitting tribute to him

Babymetal never speaks about the meaning on their content, but we have had some mentions to the meaning of the trilogy. -Koba said some time ago that the three songs were meant to express an emotional journey. -The girls mentioned that it was about the struggles they had in 2018. (We can assume it's Yui leaving, Mikio dying, a lot of hate they received from some Yui fans during times of uncertainty and their decision to commit their lives to continue doing Babymetal without her). -Although Su does not write the songs, she mentioned the first time she sang about it the song made her think on Yui (it was premiered the same day Yui announced officially she was leaving), and that later the song has had other meanings for her. So I think the trilogy works both as an homage to both Yui and Mikio. Mikio was a stargazer, but Yui also loved stargazing. He probably taught her a lot about that on tours. Even if they have never said anything officially, recently they played the song on Mikio's birthday. Also the whole setting with the guitar in Shine that you must have already seen. On the songs on themselves, they are really different to Babymetal catalogue. Everything Babymetal does has a little bit of joking in the background. Little girls or young elegant ladies now playing to be Heavy Metal. That's the culture of the band. But the Trilogy songs stand out. It has a serious tone, ceremonial. It even feels like a funeral.
