1 word, FEAR! that's stopping the attacked from attacking the attacker. Afraid, IF, I don't get this right, this would be my ass. that's my opinion. Great video again.

It has never made sense to me to engage in wrestling when defending one's self. I'm not trying to gun wrestle, knife wrestle, or baton wrestle. I'm going to attack and injure. Period. I'm not wrestling. I'm not doing Krav Maga or Kalah. I'm attacking and injuring to debilitation.

I'm new to the channel and appreciate these lessons. I am a 3rd degree brown belt in karate that hasn't practiced in years. The 2 videos I have watched really struck a cord with me because I feel the mainstream karate schools are setting people up for a false sense of security. While they train people to throw kicks and get them limber enough to do so I think a large majority would not perform well in a street fight. While my sensei is a bad dude he has eaten, breathed, drank and slept karate for decades and I would hate to see what happened to the guy who attacked him, but to teach techniques where you block a single punch and counter is grossly inaccurate. I have been a few fights in my life and there has never been a situation where someone threw a single punch and left it hanging out there while you go to work on them. There is a fury of punched grabbing trying to get you on the ground on top of you to pound on you. I feeling what you are covering here is much more realistic view of how fights really happen and ways to attack and survive in real world situations. Please keep the content coming.

Again, good expose of other arts dangerous lack of praticality and full effectivness. I was a little confused, though, about running around an attacker close quarters who's swinging a bat with full force. Can the feet and body spiral around faster than the attackers' two arms swinging? Jumping and spinning out the way, outside reach of a swinging bat, yes, but close quarter spinining? I'm not sure about that.

Why do people like hugging the arm so much? I see that and think the attacker would kick out my knees, and take my back to stab me from behind with a knife unseen but produced into his left hand. That is what I worry about. I have trained FMA (PTK, Abantu Academy, Wing Chun Kali Systems) and have been avidly watching Vee A J videos since 2008.

Thank you for for all comments, I can know who he is because I was watching a martial arts performance on stage from clubs all over. His clubs came on stage all with black uniforms. When his turn to show his performance, he poked a coke can with one finger right in. When I saw that? I said, dude get away from that guy. If I was young, I will attend his class. God bless you, sir.

What would you of done? What can a 72year old do to protect himself and win a fight? I'am in pretty good shape for my age.
@ketjoh1
@ketjoh1 2 ай бұрын
I really like your videos, but this one I disagree on. One crucial point missed out by the krav guy video, was a total absence of blocking the bat arm with a double block. You need to do a double block on the arm to stop the bat, not just throwing the upper arm over the bat arm. Doing that you are already in infight and you are not positioned to strike the way you show. Shortest time to followup with a strike is right hand karate style sideways to the attackers right hand side of the neck, temporarily (or permanent😳) blocking the artery to the brain. That is the proper krav technique on this and not the one showed initially in this video. If there was no need for a double block of the bat arm, I would agree with you.

Hi Professor David, Love the Video thanks, one question? I'm not a fan of locks and or any restraining moves, for good reason from bitter experience! One move I was taught back in Judo in the '60s and then Jujitsu/karate in the early '80s both were self-defence orientated and not towards competition. In a situation like this, we were taught to move to the outside with an upward Block, restrain the arm across your chest and just break it with your body weight. I haven't seen this move, shown on any site I've watched. Would this be considered too aggressive these days?
