Basically what Earl said. Unlike just about every other character, LM doesn't have any good 'angle' for recovering. Recovering high leads to slow fall punish, recovering mid leads to projectile punish, and recovering low leads to nair punish

Cloud got dooky recovery without limit. It's really vulnerable to 2 frames. Buttt he got some banging aerials and obviously the limit makes up for it. He's one of my pockets.

Something I have learned from the lvl 9 cpu that a lot of players could use is their riduculous patience with midair jumps and airdodges. Sometimes I use Meta Knight, edgeguard them like a mf for a minute and then they suddenly use their midair jump to get back lol

Dair, fair and nair recover some of Mac's momentum, because side b resets it then Mac has to do one of those aerials to get extra distance

Mac's double jump animation prevents his up-b from being boosted. You can cancel out of the animation using an aerial (dair, nair, fair) to get the boost back. This gives extra horizontal distance and increased magnet hands.

The recovery routes are super impressive, but it feels like a lot of people here just aren't actually ledge guarding him, you know? I don't think people realize that when tier lists and whatnot call Mac recovery bad, it's IF you take his jump. Like Peanut was saying halfway through the video, if you don't have your jump, you're probably just dead. You can win this matchup if you edgeguard. If not, amen to your stocks.

Exactly. Holding your jump is recovery 101. A lot of folks burn their jump, so when they try and up special with Mac they straight up die. With Mac you have to save your jump just in case you get contested - But you literally should be doing that in general with any character in the roster.

I think the whole back throw Mac offstage thing was only for Smash 4 where you had to choose between up b or side b (and the opponent could just trade aerial side b with their aerial and still win). Peanut has shown ultimate Mac is a different story!
