So I found this Immaculate 2002 Zx9 for $700 I've never really ridden a carbureted sportbike besides my 1999 R6 when I was 16 so this ZX9 really shocked me I wasn't expecting to fall in love with the bike. The bike is night and day different then any fuel injected bike I've ever owned it's way louder then any bike I've ever heard and the bike is more responsive then anything I've ever been on don't believe go test drive a Zx9 and you will thank me. with all this said she's a part of the Family now. I never gave Carbureted bikes a chance I kind of frowned upon them as I thought fuel Injection was more superior but boy was I wrong this is now my favorite sportbike over all my fuel injected bikes.

Part of the reason for its unique sound and sharp bark like rev like is; it is the only bike in its class that doesn't have a counter balance shaft, less rotational mass = faster revving. It was also the first showroom stock production vehicle to do the quarter mile under 10 seconds (1998 model, stock tires and gearing).

@@2wheelfamily493 I have a 2003. Bought it the year I turned 50, that was over 13 years ago. My test ride was 1,300 kilometers, I bought it over the internet, flew there to ride it home, funny story of how I broke the news to my wife, more of a forgiveness thing than permission but I still love them both. Enjoy and be safe, lots of miles ahead of you and no matter what you ride you'll always remember owning one of the most iconic, underrated and attainable to common man motorcycles ever created!

They are still a very attractive bike and ooze macho!. Not crazy about that exhaust spound tho ', It may need some attention to avoid the throttle delay and slight misfire.

Part of the reason for the unique sound is the D&D exhaust, one of the loudest brands as opposed to a Yoshimura, one of the quietest, and spot on jetting. I’m in the middle with a Micron carbon fiber slip-on, on my 1999 ZX9R with 76,000 miles. Still running strong. These are very good bikes.

Me and my dad is going to rebuild one of these, his crankshaft broke when he was in university and he never had the time to fix it, about 8 years later and we are going to start to rebuild it this winter, it has a red finish with a silver touch to it.

That is one of the best bikes ever made. Tons of low and midrange torque... I had 2 friends that had one and i LOVED riding them, never got around to getting my own...im seriously considering getting one now.

Really nice to see someone enjoying their new purchase, how exciting! Thumbs-up from England! And I must say that pipe sounds fruity. It's got a gurgly-raspiness to it that also just somehow sounds like a Kawasaki. Got a rawness to it. Yeah. Kawas do have a sort of unique gruffness that is distinctive. Like it! Bet she sounds nice with big revs. Within the speed limit of course, umm, er... "Absolutely, Officer!" Yeah right. 🤐!

Just saw your post in the ZX9 group on FB .... and watched the video. You got a killer deal! I got a ZX9 the very first year they came out in 1994. I blew the engine up on that one years later racing on I95...then I got the 2000 ZX9 - new as well and still have it to this day . Mine has 22K miles on it and i just had some maintenance on it and put some Pirelli Corsas on her! Its the most awesome bike and definately underated. You got a killer deal, so jealous!! .😁

I just bought a 2001 that sat since 2008 for $380. Apart from the obvious fluid changes and caliper rebuilds i thi k it just needs carbs cleaned and it will run good.

Where did you purchase your carb rebuild kit? My 2001 ZX9 has been sitting since I got a ‘18 MT10. Been meaning to rebuild them since I bought it in ‘12, but it always started right up and ran good.

U.S.$ 700 is dirt cheap man. You literally stole it from him. Take good care of it and ride safely guys. I have the E2 2001 version and I'll never sell it. I'm from the old school and there's nothing wrong with Carburetors either. These bikes have soul man. Enjoy it.
