Years ago in the 1960s there was a TV program called candid camera and it was the same premises and they were absolutely hilarious. I checked and they do have them on KZfaq and you might wanna give them a look. The only problem is they’re very short little segments like 2 to 3 minutes long but they’re worth a look.

These kinds of stunts (music included) goes back to 1948 and the Candid Camera tv show. It was an iconic show for decades!! People even used to question anything strange they saw, wondering if it was a show prank!

Just for Laughs is Canadian and is out of Montreal. Some of the gags they do are really hilarious. Many others are just so-so. Nevertheless, the gags that hit are typically strong enough to make it worth watching because it’s usually one really funny hit for every 2 misses.

The reasons why sound, specifically speaking is not included, is because: A - it's easier to not have to include the audio equipment for these pranks, and B - it's filmed in Montreal, and probably 75% or more of these pranks include French speaking people, when the majority of people watching speak English as their primary language.

I wish there were voices too but you have to understand you can watch these videos at any part of the world and need translation... Simple and genius at the same time. We also noticed how Canadians reaction and trust in other people around is different than other countries especially with kids. Thanks for sharing your reaction.

This program is a direct take from a US show originating in the 1960s called "Candid Camera"--exactly the same thing.

The reason they added music instead of hearing the voices is because its filmed in Quebec (in french) but it was geared towards English provinces in Canada. So they overlapped the french with music instead to gain a wider audience.

Just for Laughs is French Canadian. The comedians mostly speak French. The clips are done silent movie style so that anyone can laugh at them whether they understand French or not. If you watch the clips, all the writing is in French.

JFK don't talk in their videos as they are speaking French. They want to promote their videos to everybody, so that is why there is no talking.

These are great. My favorite one is they have a kiosk at the mall selling life size girl dolls - for kids not adults, and of course ask someone to watch it just a sec. Yadda Yadda Yadda, the victim goes ro pick up the doll and it's a real girl.

Yeah, just for laughs is a canadian company, these gags were filmed in montreal, but there are festivals around canada. We have one in vancouver as well

This sort of show started in America with a black and white TV show called CANDI CAMERA with Allen Funt, I believe, 60 some yrs ago ?? Always funny to catch people oo guard as long as they're not hurt. A more modern take on this if you can check it out is SCARE TACTICS with Tracy Morgan where they scare the shit out of people...not too funny if someone were to have a heart attack,( I would have with some if the pranks) but still HILARIOUS reactions !!!!

A lot of these were filmed when cellphones werent ubiquitous and information easily accessible (notice most of these ppl dont have a phone in thier hands) so it was easier to trick ppl with these before the age of the internet were eveyone is a skeptic

I like this form of comedy because some of it is truly wholesome and not very crude and offensive. Also, lots of folks believe in miracles. However, i'm not sure why you guys have a rule about not talking about politics but quick to have an opinion on religion. Just curious.

i dont think it's so much falling for it as going "oh this is someone having a laugh", and then kinda playing into them. but still not realizing its a cam thing. It could just be a mime-like busk

all i want to say is that the background music and the fake laughs is what makes it so good because no matter where youre from or what language you speak you can still watch because its more visual and dont hear the actors talk so they can air the show world wide

I don't think it's real. First, it feels like everyone is playing. secondly, I hardly think it would have been legal to make the joke as a police officer. I don't know how it is in Canada, but here in Sweden it is illegal to pretend to be a police officer and you are definitely not allowed to strip search.

I find most of the vids from this show I see are obviously faked reactions. Sometimes the camera is actually inside the "reactor's" vehicle, and a lot of the setups are quite impossible for someone not see.

These are filmed in French Quebec so they're all speaking French in the original audio. They remove the audio so it can be enjoyed by other language speakers.
