If this was in 1978, Pat Tate would have been 20. As far as I'm aware he had no fighting rep even up until he got slotted. Just a roid head who bullied young kids for no good reason. I can only go on what I've read, but Ray does appear to have a reputation as a tasty fighter with a history of violence. Not even sure if Tate was on the juice at that time, so it's probably no great surprise if Ray did batter him.
