Just Happened! Elon Musk Revealed Crazy Concept Battery 600-mile LFP Gen 3, That Break All Industry! Unbelievable Battery Tech! The emergence of this battery is completely capable of making Tesla soon abandon its 4680 battery production. Chinese battery manufacturer CATL has revealed the LFP Gen 3 battery, the first battery to achieve a range of over 600 miles with 4C super-fast charging.
Just Happened! Elon Musk Revealed Crazy Concept Battery 600-mile LFP Gen 3, That Break All Industry! What's even crazier is that Tesla has made a big move with this battery, even bringing it into production at Giga Nevada this year. Tesla EVs only need to be charged for 10 minutes to get nearly 400 miles of operation, which Elon Musk has been waiting all these years.

Wow, I hear all of the negative comments about EVs and laugh my butt off. 1. Cost: $37,490 is the base price of a 2024 model Y rear wheel drive with 320 miles of range and .99% financing. Try buying an equivalent gas car for that??? 2. Fuel efficiency: I average driving my 2023 model Y LR-AWG 850 miles every 4 weeks and it cost me $25 in charging cost. I charge at home and use a TOD meter. 3. Tires: Keep your Tesla in Chill mode and don't overinflated your tires and they'll last for 50K miles. I easily got 50K miles on my 2017 Bolt EV tires and my model Y tires show no wear after 12K miles. 4. The Tesla model Y was Number 1 in world wide sales last year beating out both the Toyota Corolla and Rav4 and made it to Consumer Report's list of Best Cars of 2024. 5. One pedal driving on both my 2017 Chevy Bolt and 2023 Tesla model Y is way Safer to drive than a gas or hybrid vehicle. IE. the car is braking before you can even get your foot on the brake. Of course, your brake pads will also last Much longer on an EV. 6. Speaking of Service, with 64K miles on my 2017 Chevy Bolt EV that I bought brand new, I have spent not 1 dime on service other than paying 20 bucks per year to have the tires rotated. So far, it's been the same on the Tesla. 7. Insurance: It cost me $100 per month for Tesla insurance on my model Y as long as I keep my safety score above 98%. Also, since their safety score is based on Real Car Data and not some foolish insurance phone app., it definitely pays to drive safely. In summary, I'm so spoiled by EVs, I just chuckle when I pass a gas station and see those poor souls paying 5 times as much for gas as I'm paying for electricity. BTW, my utility's coal consumption represents less than 4% of their total monthly fuel usage and is steadily declining.

Exactly! When we first got our Kia e-Niro in 2019, long hauls across Europe needed a lot of planning, these days it is so easy. The e-Niro max charging rate is 75 kW and it takes a good 30 minutes from a low SOC to add 200 km but we have never found this to be inconvenient. We always start a long trip fully charged with 450 km of range and we never drive more than 2 and half to 3 hours before taking a break to eat, drink, use bathroom and take eyes off the road. A 30 minute stop to charge while we do those necessary things, is normally more than enough to finish our driving for the day. Sure, more modern EVs can charge faster and will have more range but it isn't a bad idea to stop, rest and refuel the human machine while the car is charging.

@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270
@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 14 күн бұрын
Good point. Perhaps this new battery from CATL has a reduced number of life cycles as a result of 4c charging. Let's say it can 'only' do 1,500 full charge/discharge cycles which is the accepted case with NMC batteries. If each charge cycle gives 1,000 km of range then 1,500 cycles is enough for 1.5 million km, almost a million miles!!. Who will worry if the battery has degraded a bit by then?

These batteries are great, massive lifespan that should outlive the rest of the car, but with the US tariffs on Chinese made batteries, won't it be hard for Tesla to use these in the US market? I'm sure they will be used in Tesla's in other countries and be very popular with Tesla owners.

You should look into Aptera. Aptera is using extremely good aerodynamics and efficiency in order to get really good range from smaller battery packs. 10 miles per kilowatt-hour. That works out to needing only a 60kwh battery pack for 600 miles of range. I also Iike Apteras inclusion of a large number of solar cells, as solar effectively improves energy to weight ratio by alot.

Hey young geniuses! Thousands of people are working on car batteries, and they are improving rapidly. But we consumers need an ugly, heavy, safe, cheap, home electricity storage battery!!!! Tesla has set13 kWh as the base size for their Rolls Royce-priced Powerwalls. And orther manufacturers market even smaller home storage batteries, saying you can string together a bunch. We homeowners need an ugly, heavy, safe, long lasting 50 kWh hour battery to take homes off grid. 50 kWh is the baseline size for home storage l. The future isn’t big commercial solar and wind farms and gigantic battery farms, it is dispersed, individual solar and battery systems.

Its a CATL Battery, designed by WeLion and NIO, with the patent held by NIO. Its the same battery NIO CEO drove 1000 KM 651 miles with in Dec. Its a swappable battery. Elon Musk had NOTHING to do with developing or introducing this battery. But he is smart enough to use it and he will be a buyer. Not him, Tesla. I doubt it will be retrofittable to the fixed batteries in current Tesla's. All I can say is its a great battery for any EV.

It will take trillions of dollars of infrastructure improvements before we are ready for large scale EV use. So if they can make a battery that has a real quick charge and acceptable range, if there is enough raw materials to support universal use of EVs then we get to pay extra for our home electrical bill. It will take decades for widespread use of EVs to become a reality.

Elon announced the Cyberdump when?? How long did it take to deliver to the first pre-orders, if they didn't cancel? These stories go around and at some point in the future this battery tech will be in vehicles. Welcome to the world of battery tech. It only took a half a decade of R&D including developing the manufacturing process to put out the 4680. There's just SOMETHING about mechanical things that make getting something to work well and be cost effective take a long time. Wake me up when this actually makes it into a vehicle. Considering Elon likes to announce things in concept, I'll get a few years rest.

Problem with ev’s - slow charging, used car values very low, cost too much to charge, expensive to fix after a bump. Tyers need changing at least x3 than a gas car. Charging infrastructure is very very very poor. The grid can not cope. Too much electronics to go wrong. Cold or hot weather reduces range by ½ or moor. EV’s simply do not make economical, or green sence.
@davidwarriner1639
@davidwarriner1639 14 күн бұрын
SLOW CHARING- newer EV’s and DC fast chargers are charger batteries faster. It’s only issue if you’re going on a long road trip. But then you’ll be charging while going for washroom breaks and getting food. If you live in an apartment you can charge while you’re shopping at many places. If you have a house you charge overnight and don’t need to worry about the charging speed and you don’t need to spend all that time pumping gas. COST TOO MUCH TOO CHARGE- If you charge at home it will cost you much less for electricity than gas to be able to drive the same distance. BONUS: if you have solar on your home you can charge your car for FREE. Plus with some EV’s you can use them to power your home in the event of a black out. No stinky noisy generator to disturb you and your neighbours. EXPENSIVE TO FIX- the cost to repair an EV would cost the same as a gas car. Tires, suspension and brakes will all cost the same. BUT, with regenerative braking the brakes will last approximately 5X longer. Big win there. If you mean body repair. Some EV’s could be more expensive for bodywork just because they’re newer and fewer replacement parts in the supply chain. But, that will fix itself. Plus that’s what auto insurance is for. TIRES WEAR-OUT FASTER WITH EV’s- Not True. If an EV and a gas car both weigh 4,000lbs the tires will wear at the same rate with the same diving style and speeds. Plus tire companies are constantly working to make better tires for EV’s. CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE IS POOR- YES TRUE. But, the same thing happened with gas cars. They had to wait for gas stations infrastructure to be created before they could drive everywhere. But, EV charging infrastructure will grow MUCH faster. Plus you don’t need as many charging stations as gas stations. Some people will have the ability to charge at home, work or while shopping. GRID CANNOT COPE- They will cope. Power grids are always expanding. They will need to expend faster as more EV’s get on the roads. But, the grids don’t need expand overnight. We’re not taking every gas car off the road and replacing with an EV overnight either. Plus with more and cheaper solar arrays being installed there will be a huge benefit of having micro-grids. Meaning fewer and less power outages. TOO MUCH ELECTRONICS- not all EV’s are techy like Teslas. But, any gas car with all the cameras and ultrasonic sensors will have more electronics than a Tesla. Newer Tesla’s only use 8 cameras. And that’s to the self driving. COLD OR HOT WEATHER REDUCES RANGE- with older EV’s this is true. But, most newer EV’s have a heat pump in them instead of resistive heating. The heat pump is extremely efficient. Gas cars also loose range in winter with lack of traction. EV’s have better traction. Gas cars also loose range in summer by using AC. Just trying inform people.

Ev’s are doomed unless the batteries can be replaced incrementally as and when they die. If this app arch is not taken, the re-sale value of EV’s will always be low and EV’s will be disposed/ scraped after 10yrs use as that battery only takes 3 or 4 cells to die to make the make U.N.-usable.
