Without doubt the most popular turbo size on the Ford Barra engine is the 35 frame series turbocharger. On a 4L engine they are very responsive. We caught up with Hugh at Heathcote Raceway for a private day by Maxx Performance where the guys were pushing thier FG XR6.

@@ethanburgess8355 6boost manifolds are extremely good value for money, though? Just try getting a "bunch of bananas" turbo exhaust with external wastegate flange custom made out of steampipe by an exhaust shop for less than the purchase price of a 6boost unit for your engine.

Love it, car is a beast , hoping to get a built motor for my G6E soon currently running 312rwks with just a cooler and battery relocation , and true trac. Wanting to keep my 6 speed trans so ill need a built trans as well. Good work 😊

What do you mean? 6boost mani and they sound soooo good. Set a limi and she’ll sound better than a 2j. Destroke it to 3.7 and it’ll sound as good as an RB, just with a tougher sound especially when cammed like psijunki Ute. It’s all in the exhaust. Adam LZ gt350 and keep it reet Barra wagon are perfect examples.

@@uptheau2875why de stroke a engine that is pretty close to cfm demand ? A log manifold or runner manifold doesn't change the sound, cam compression and tune does. Stock cammed barras sound like shit. Always will but cos the head flows well they can make good power and thanks in part to the huge aftermarket for em. Will never sound good like a Pro Stock NA engine @ 10,500 or Nascar engine @ 9500 or even a solid cammed clevo or a y block Ford. However they can push power with a turbo and heaps of shops build em for the unskilled owners 95% of the time.

Damn, I remember when a "small" turbo was a T25, typically fitted to a CA18 in an S13... Now people are calling what used to be "large frame" turbos like a GTX3584RS "small"!

I don't thing the 2 speed power glide was the best option for this car? That's just my opinion. The turbo isn't staying in its effective power range?

Haltech was playing up and making it lose boost on the gear change, You will see on the last run it doesn’t drop boost and stays in the power-band on the gear change 👍
