i've never felt more validated than when you talked about smile fatigue. i'm a social worker and definitely spend most of my day "masking" with an overly bubbly personality to my coworkers, clients, and peers. when i get home my face is so sore and i am so exhausted. it's nice not having to force yourself to smile to appease others if that makes sense.

Man, sleep masks bring me weird memories... My first plane trip and first trip abroad, the airline company (Turkish Airlines) handed the passengers the amenities kit with toothbrush, toothpaste, sleep mask, etc. I never used a sleep mask before, but decided to give it a try, since I had a very f'd up fear of flying and anything that kept me from seeing things would be perfect for me. Thing is: to be able to even BOARD the plane, I had to take a f*kton of tranquilizers and was sedated and numb af. A few hours into the flight, ALL the pills kick in and I fall asleep. Hours later the flight attendant wakes me up because other passengers were worried that I was dead because I was unresponsive (just sleeping heavily, coiled up in my seat) and when I woke up seeing nothing (cause of the mask), still high af, I started screaming, saying I went blind, that the plane crashed and we were all dead and I was in hell and literally freaked out... Then the flight attendant removes the mask, I can finally see things, I start crying like a child and wanted to hug the attendant, but was so numb from the pills that I could barely move. So pro tip: if you have fear of flying, don't rely on pills or any medication unless a doctor prescribes... Glad it was the only trip I took to that place (Brussels, Belgium) because that was embarrassing af. I didn't keep the mask, threw it away as soon as I landed (lol).

The reverse psychology “are you SURE you want to go to sleep” is such an underrated trigger in itself. I can hardly make it past that part to get to the videos most times 😂😂😂

Very relaxing, the reverse psychology approach to sleep has always been super effective on me Lol 🥰Whenever somebody tells me to be awake for something later at night, guarantee I'll be out in like 15 mins

also oh my god I'm too sleepy to engage fully but the deep validation of "stress is a big deal/it's okay to not go to sleep yet" is really powerful. I have often slipped into the "sad because I'm up too late, too sad to go to sleep" mindset. I hate going to sleep sad! And I get a lot of anxiety about staying Up Too Late, so, yeah, really positive video!
