Step No 0, use the continental grip on both sides. Step No 6, keep your wrist below the head of the racket as you hit the ball. Step No 7, follow the ball with your eyes until you hit it.

I'd like to see a lesson on slice backhand when the opponent hits it deep on the baseline and you have to catch it on the rise because you're out of position and need to just block it back

I often find myself swinging to much at my backhand volleys what do you guys recommend?
@spookyroofus
@spookyroofus Жыл бұрын
There's another video he did on volleys that explains what he means by moving forward through the volley. You definitely shouldn't swing at volleys, and in fact, you should have much less arm movement than even most club players think. He wants to see very little arm movement. Instead, he's looking for forward movement from the body and legs through the shot, even after contact, with a very quiet arm. Not the way a lot of us have been taught, but I think he's totally right on this.

It's step 5 that is kind of revolutionary. Most of us have been taught not to "run through" our volleys. Coach Mouratoglou has a longer video, in addition to this one, on how that's wrong -- he wants to see us moving forward even after contact. Seemed crazy to me at first, but of course he's right. He's always right. The man is a genius.

Yes , but if the lob comes after that volley...a quick player can't stop momentum and run back but a regular club player better to be balanced and movements under control gracefully to be ready for the next shot....we always play one more ball after the point is over.....

It's so funny to teach volleys to people. As a new player there is a 50/50 chance you'll put forward the right or wrong shoulder and foot while playing the volley and 95/100 people always do it wrong 😂😂
@spookyroofus
@spookyroofus Жыл бұрын
I think whether a new player gets this right depends on how much experience they have with sports that involve throwing. If you you're right handed and you've done a lot of throwing, you'll know to get your left foot forward to position yourself "athletically" to hit the volley.
