As a HVAC Tech who spends almost everyday in crawl spaces and attics, I'm a big believer in knee pads. I have to say I was super excited when I saw that the new Milwaukee High Performance Stabilizing Knee Pads were released!! After all if it's Milwaukee its gonna be the best and I have almost every Milwaukee tool I can possibly ever use!
Over the last 3 years I have been trying different brands and styles of knee pads...from gel to foam designs to pads with velcro and side clips.
I still haven't found the ideal HVAC knee pad that works for me, so let me know if you have any recommendations?
Thanks for watching!

The atlas 46 knee pads have been the best I've found so far. They're expensive, but they lasted me a year, of 10 hours a day wear, and it was the pads the wore out not the hook&loop. It crazy how good thier hook&loop is.

$170 for those? Why not get some custom ProKnees at that point? Even the AP16 ProKnees look at be as good if not better for half the price.

@ne0rcx because I'm a general contractor, not a flooring guy, and having super slim and lightweight pads that stay on my knees was priority. I've found another pair, kuny pads that have silicone bands that lock onto a stud. They aren't as comfortable, but for a fraction of the price they stay on my knees.

@@SirGatras Fair, the full size ones even I don't have and I work flooring. But the AP16s are about $90 from Amazon and they are insanely comfortable.

Selstrom kneepro kneepads sold Amazon for 25 bucks are the best I've found and I've tried them all being a former flooring installer. For hvac the flooring pro knees are a little too bulky but I've dropped over 200 bucks on a pair before so I know my knee pads

Velcro straps on knee pads suck so much. Just recently got the Milwaukee High Performance Stabilizing Shell Knee Pad like you. Hook loop straps are good, the flat knee cap area is good for kneeling a lot, got them kuz my old ones were smelling bad even tho I could wash it, the velcro sucking bad, the knee pad area is peeling and ripping a lot. Also they were slipping so I needed the thigh strap to keep it stable on my knees

Yeah, they might not be the best for moving around and climbing ladders. I used the Milwaukee recently to chip up 2,000 square feet of tile and thin set off of concrete. They were amazing. Felt nice to not have to kneel on sharp tile chips. For you I'd probably go with the lighter-duty version that Milwaukee makes, those might be better for hvac.

I had the stabilizer Toughbuilt kneepads and the velcro was trashed very quickly. They were so heavy and the velcro so bad that they fell down to my ankles when I stood up.

I’ve had total knee replacement on both knees and need something good on so I can kneel on cement to do my work on my equipment. Thought these Milwaukee pads looked like the real deal. But I had the same experience. Every time time I walked or got back up they would slip down past my knees unless I got them so tight they cut off blood flow. Really a big disappointment.

LOL trust me I understand I've been through a lot of knee pads still looking for the right ones. These milwaukees are okay but I'm not a fan of the flat surface. Sometimes if I'm crawling on uneven surfaces it sometimes causes the whole knee pad to twist off of your knee, almost like twisting your ankle but just on your knee. It's very annoying

Ever think of wearing pants with knee pad pockets instead? Like Walls DITCHDIGGER ALL-SEASON TWILL DOUBLE-KNEE WORK PANTS??? add in your own pads, when needed. Its the route I'm going
@HVACTechKnowledgy
@HVACTechKnowledgy 9 ай бұрын
Hey there! Yeah I have thought of it, I believe I've even tried it for a short time. The only issue I have is you don't have actual protection of the pants. Most of the times I use knee pads I'm crawling through gross crawl spaces and things like that so I'd like my pants to be covered as well. Not to mention I'm sure it wouldn't take too long to wear holes in the knees using inserts. Appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching!
