I just made a blend of Arran 10, 14 and 12 Premium cask. Superb! Really liked the old 18 too. That sherry chocolate in the background was great. Tobermory 12 really overlooked one. First I was disappointed but than the bottle opened up. It needs time and than it rewards you.

Great list and your choice for the whisky of the year John. It's an excellent choice IMO. I literally emptied the last 100ml or so into a smaller bottle over the weekend and that's how delicious it has been over the past 4-6 months for me. I savored every drop of Tobermory 12. Luckily I had bought two so there is a backup for the future. I also have Glen Garioch yet to crack open. I have been enjoying Indri the last couple of months and it is a great whisky. I have some of the other bottles you showcased in this review. Thanks for some great reviews in 2023 and look forward to more in 2024. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas John!!

Thanks James 🙏 Agree the old Arran 18 is great juice. And yes the GG is probably the better value but the T12 resonates with me more albeit the higher price. I’ve reviewed the Arran Bothy batch 1 couple years ago. Cheers 🥃

They said they're increasing the prodcution of Ledaig as they have more than enough stock of young and old Tobermory so we'll have both in the future, lucky us 😃🥃

I am so refreshed by your choice of Whisky of the year, with so many amazing bottles you reviewed and tasted in 2023, you went with one that you genuinely enjoy despite Tobermory 12 not being very popular or appreciated at this moment. I also enjoyed my bottle of Tobermory 12 in 2023, and finished it recently. Great video!

Tobermory 12 was my introduction to unchillfiltered whisky, so always has a special place in my heart. Ledaig 10 seems to have more of a following, but I consider that the drum n' bass remix with sweet/bass & treble/bitter cranked up, but less going on in the mid/savoury range. I like drum n' bass, but sometimes it's nice to experience the original version of a track. Glen Garioch 12 is another great & often overlooked whisky with a lot of savoury notes.

Tobermory 12 is my whisky of the year to, after discovering it in March 2023. The Ledaig is good but the non peated and older version is much nicer to quaff.

When Ralfy told me that Ledaig was available unpeated my head exploded. Finally found the Tob12 for $79 which was expensive at the time, now its $95. Still haven't opened it but enjoying a 20 year indie and the 21 Manzanilla as some of my most costly bottles. The 17 oloroso is also in the wings and I think my Tobermory derangement syndrome is cured. Glen Garioch is my wheelhouse too. Dont have the 12 but some "vintage " releases.

Your evaluation of Tobermory 12YO and Godzilla t-shirts are all impressive. However, the sun pattern used as the background is considered the same as the Nazi symbol (Hakenkreuz) in Asia. It would have been better if you made KZfaq with such common sense.

The Japanese flag was adopted 20 years before Hilter was even born. The Japanese flag has 16 Sun Rays. This Godzilla(fictional character) shirt’s flag has 36 Sun rays!(It’s not real) Since you are more worldly than most; You should start your own channel called “ Common Sense” so we can all learn from the master himself!

@@justwhisky The Rising Sun Flag was used by daimyo all over the place during the Edo period. After the Meiji Restoration, it was adopted as the military flag of the Japanese Imperial Army on May 15, 1870, and as the naval flag of the Japanese Imperial Navy on Oct. 7, 1889. What's important is that they have invaded Asian countries with this flag and have committed genocide. Furthermore, the Japanese military has used many variations of the sun rays, so it does not tolerate them separately, whether there are 8 sun rays, 32, or 16.
