DUDE have you changed the CP4 Pump.....as a diesel guy you should know that they fail randomly usually at about 120k miles. THere is a CP3 kit for putting a r70 euro pump on it that solved it......Newest fix. Cost if you wait till it fails your looking at $9000 at the dealer. Or 2500 and a few days labor if you do it yourself. cp3 kits are 750.. search it on my channel and see the fix video.

I picked up a '15 Golf Sportswagen for a killer price and freaking love it. Has a perfect service history paid less than 10k. The best overall range I've gotten was nearly 600 miles (with a tailwind 🤣) while fully loaded with the family on a cross coutry roadtip.

Currently looking at a '15 myself, it has right at 100k miles. Kinda bland service history, though? It's a really good looking unit, they're asking $12.5k. I seen the timing belt was 130k miles/8 years I think? So I was thinking about using that as a little negotiating point, and getting it done as soon as I got the car. Is there a way to look at the belt without removing anything, and see if it needs changed? Or it's just a maybe, maybe not, need changed?

I bought my 2013 Jetta Sportwagen TDI 6 DSG in October 2018 with 31,000 miles on it and a 48 month warranty on the engine. It is fully equipped with sunroof, navigation, satellite radio, etc. I love it, handles great, plenty of power and 32 mpg around town. In August 2019, the high pressure fuel pump failed catastrophically sending bits of metal through the rest of the fuel system. The dealer replaced both fuel pumps, fuel filter, all fuel lines and all of the fuel injectors under the warranty (a $4,500 job). It now has 46,000 and hasn’t had a problem since.

Four of us old retired guys on my circle up here in the Central Coast of Oregon bought CPO TDI VDUBs within two weeks of each other last May from VW of Salem. 1 - 2012 Jetta sedan, my 2014 Jetta MK6 Sportswagon and 2 - 2015 Passats with DEF. My Sportwagon had only 22,500 miles at purchase. I have lifted it and have tuned Bilstein shocks & struts, with bigger Toyo all terrain tires and aluminum skid plate, with help online from VW Highlife. She rides so much better, sets up higher and firmer. I run the AT in sports mode most of the time local and get about 32 mpg. I like the torky higher RPM of sports mode. On long highway trips in Drive with some up & down grade manual shifting I get 38 to 40 mpg. This is a great vehicle!

First of all great video-thank you. I own two Jetta Sportwagen’s., 2011, and 2013. About two years ago I started a new job, but my commute went to 50 miles/day. I wanted a cheap fuel efficient car, and stumbled upon the Jetta Sportwagen TDI. My daughter started driving after I bought the first one (DSG) and she liked it so much I gave it to her and bought another one 2013 manual. The manual has a 14.5 gallon fuel tank and I get about 500 miles per tank. The auto gets about 400/tank. We both love the car’s. My fuel cost’s are about $12/week and I drive 209 miles/week just to work and back. I paid $12K for the 2011, and $14K for the 2013. The only bummer is that they are not AWD. We put Blizaks on the 2011 for my daughter and she doesn’t have any problems in snow/ice. I love my Sportwagen wagon it was cheap, and has many luxury features like heated seats, which are phenomenal, heated mirrors, heated WW wash, etc.

Late to comment but love the VW TDI's I've owned ;) First was a JSW, now I have an Audi 8P A3. The DSG mated to the diesel is a joy to drive for a daily. Going through the gears quickly and not revving it beyond 4k is where it feels at home. Not to be confused with an enthusiast's car (though the aftermarket scene is readily available. Kerma, Malone, Rawtek, etc.), but if you drive a lot and need comfort, reliability, low cost of ownership... they are a gem. Don't let this video get too popular 😂 Worth mentioning, if driven like a momentum car that it is through some twisty roads, the handling can be comparable to any well-sorted GTI since that's basically the same suspension geometry underneath. Rear swaybar, springs/coilovers. Surprisingly fun with all that torque readily available to pull through the next corner 😊

Yes, I'll add my vote for the TDI. Just a bit off topic, but we have owned a 2002 Jett TDI since new and it has been a great daily driver and long distance vehicle which had never left us stranded until recently, around 160K miles when the AT started slipping. I'm into cars these days, so my plan is to swap a manual transmission into this car and drive it, hopefully to 200k or even 300k miles or more. And I agree, the VWs just seem to be comfortable cars. We own a Tiguan and a Passat, as well.

Best mod I recommend is replacing the rear springs with Tiguan rear springs. I got two rear Tiguan springs from a junkyard for $50. The result is a stiffer rear end and much better curve handling, also better speed-bump and trail clearance. Additionally, much greater load capacity. My JSW sits flush level when over-extra loaded. I'm talking about rear seats down packed with zero room left, roof rack loaded over 300lbs, and rear bike rack packed with extra heavy cargo totes... And drove from Miami FLA to PHX Arizona. But I had set the Tiguan springs in previously and drove my JSW empty from PHX to Miami like it was a Golf GTI... the JSW handles much better than stock when empty and much much much better than stock when cargo-overload. Yeah! Do it! By the way, the switch raises the rear about 1.5" and gives the JSW a much better aesthetic line, it actually looks better than stock. I went from 205/55/16 to 215/55/16 and that also improved everything from handling to better engine delivery and even looks. But now I see that next set will be 225/55/16 to eliminate dry wheel spin and improve the handling, height and looks. Hey, I know dropping them is cool, but I got superb handling and can override sidewalks and offroad for security and enhanced capabilities. And fyi, nothing needes to swap the springs, no adaptors, nothing, clean swap. Yeah! Do it!

My wife drives the same car and we love it. Super reliable. The fuel filters are cake to replace. I put overload/air bags on the rear since we drive with a roof top carrier and the back loaded down fairly often on road trips. Makes a HUGE difference in how the car handles and brakes when it’s carrying the extra weight. ECStuning is a great resource for maintenance, repairs, and aftermarket/OE parts. Also, Malone Tuning and TuneMyEuro by AARodriguez make these cars SING. Hope you have great luck with yours!

Love it! I used to have a black 2016 Sportwagen TDI SE version sold brand new through their used car division (Das Welt Auto) at a killer price (mine had originally 56km in the odo). Had to sell it to pay debt due to the pandemic. :-( But I also have a 2018 VW Transporter TDI 2.0L engine that is essencially the same one the Sportwagen had. This I plan to keep as long as I can. Both VWs running with manual transmissions (6 a 5 speed respectively).

Stumbled across one and I've been in love ever since. Didn't know they brought TDI manual SportWagens here in the US. I plan on buying one as they're relatively cheap because no one knows about them and no one wants a station wagon anymore, even though they're badass. Found one for under 20 grand with good mileage (in the current used market lol). I plan on tuning it to at least 250hp.

Hi JD! awesome channel, thanks so much. My wife just bought the 2015 Passat. We both love it, it's an unbelievable travel rig... we took a trip from Canadian border to Portland and back the next day... piece of cake and I felt like a rock star driving it. Such smooth power, easy cruising speed of 80-90 (average prolly 40mpg), no problem, great pick-up from the torque... beautiful silver exterior, tan interior, really cushy... in short, a real nice road trip car. Also handles great. Plenty of interior room, I'm 6'4 too and no problem. The trunk is crazy big. She paid $12k for a 30k miles rig... unreal. I'm hooked on the TDI and want one of my own - my problem; I need 4x or at least AWD. I'm really having a hard time narrowing this down... I absolutely need the performance the passat brings and I want the fuel economy, and as you've expressed - wow, what a bargain. Can you help? I welcome any comments. I subscribed to your channel... good luck with everything bro! keep following your passion :)

Sadly VW and Audi never made an AWD TDI car. The Touareg was offered with a TDI and awd, but those are in a different price range than these smaller cars! Glad you’re enjoying the videos though!

i have a 2015 Golf TDI. it was one of the last ones sold in the US before they took them off the market - original owner only had it about a year before VW bought it back, and i am the third owner. ridiculously comfortable car, very fun to drive especially on the bendies, and that diesel engine provides LOTS of torque alongside incredible mpg. diesel is expensive these days, but that won’t sway my opinion on it - it’s easily the best vehicle i’ve ever owned!

Great video. I have 2015 VW golf TDI. I see all positive comments here but do want to make everyone aware of a painful $2500 experience and multiple visits / mechanics assessment that I went through. My gears were jumping at 1K - 2K RPM or 10-20 mph gear shift and eventually stalling out. First, MAF wiring replaced, fuel filter, DSG full service/transmission fluid. Neither worked, eventually they tugged on the crank sensor / wiring and felt it loose so they say and replaced it on “diesel warranty” after they provided a loaner car for all the troubles and (4) visits and two mechanics, with majority of the work at VW dealership. Otherwise, car is great up to 130k and 50mpg. Beware of crank! I hope I get to 200k

100% these are great cars. Had an 05 Jetta TDI sportwagen for years, and picked up a 2013 Audi A3 TDI wagon in January of 2020. Awesome car. Basic, but very nice looking, and comfortable. Much smaller than the Jetta Sportwagen for what it’s worth. I didn’t see crazy fuel economy with it (40mpg prob best case with conservative freeway driving only) but none the less a fabulous rig, and Audi service handled a warranty replacement of the intake manifold when it threw a code (was considered part of the extended warranty from the emissions rework). Highly recommend.

My three door TDI GETS 41.5 mpg in mixed driving, I take real world data at each fill up. Currently my fuel cost per mile is 5 cents. When fuel is $2.50 per gallon it might go up to 6 cents per mile. It has Sirius radio, a great climate control system, leather seats, power windows and sunroof. Even the door locks are touch control. In addition, it handles beautifully with Yokohama’s. I hope to be able to get another if this one ever wears out. It’s definitely one of the best cars I’ve ever owned in 60 years of driving.

Purchased a 2014 TDI SJW 40k in white with a beige interior 6spd, Love the roomy interior for the dog and just for long travelling, I've already put 60k on it, 6 mth after owning it I got an emissions light and was prepared for a nightmare, I called them up and they said drop it off, so when I called back the next day to argue they said they replaced the whole system and to pick it up, no questions ask, The warranty for emissions is real and they are all prepared to replace it all, The only problem I've had is of course the Panoramic roof leaking, although an easy fix with sliding a string trimmer line down the drain, No noise from the roof at all but I plan on keeping the seal lubed up and snipping the ends off the drains, we have a lot of crap in the air around here, Pine pollen, pieces of pine needles and red dirt dust that just clog everything, I like the Panoramic roof enough to keep it.

Just traded a 2012 Jetta Sportwagen S TDI, with a DSG. Bought in April of 2018 as a CPO and 59K miles on the odometer. It had 81K miles when I traded it, They are as fabulous a performer, as you say they are, ride, handling, milage, everything. I kept good records and was getting low 30's mpg around town and mid 30's average on interstate/city. I got over 41 MPG on a 250 mile road trip, mostly interstate, at 75 to 85 MPH and saw 95 mph briefly. It only had 81K miles on it but was starting to cost me, so I traded it on a 2012 Toyota Corolla Hatchback w/a 6 speed manual. Obviously, the two cars are not in the same league. I just couldn't trust the VW any longer. Fuel system replaced (under warranty) at 63K miles, contaminated they said. Car had gone into limp mode. I always did all of the factory recommended maintenance or better. Frozen right rear caliper in October of 2020 requiring new rotors, pads and brake fluid. A right rear wheel speed sensor (numerous dash lamps) a couple of weeks prior to the frozen caliper. And the last straw was another (front left) wheel speed sensor on February 1sr of 2021. I just could not trust the car any longer. But maybe I just had bad luck. I do miss it.
