1:32 "...but the JBL Flip 6 does exist..." -- I love it. What a glowing recommendation. But seriously, I appreciate this video. I've definitely wondered how the Flip 6 stacks up against the Charge 5 on sound quality. And while I already have a home sound system, I can easily see two of the Flip 6 (especially at its current Amazon sale price of $99.95 each) being set up as an inexpensive living room sound system. It would allow for a wider soundstage than JBL's similarly priced 2.0 soundbar, and having a sound system that's portable enough for you to take it with you on a trip or over to a friend's place would be the cherry on top.

Thanks for the review mate. I had a charge 4 for a few years and was really impressed with it. I just gave it to my son and upgraded to the Charge 5 and am very happy with it. The big thing I picked up from your review was that when pared in stereo mode the two Flip 6s had a clear clean sound whereas the Charge 5 alone had a deeper warmer sound. So, I guess it's personal preference in terms of which sound you like. Merry Christmas to you and your family. 😊

Coming from someone who has had and heard both in person, both are excellent products but the charge 5 is truly a beast. The bass it has for its size amazed me.

I have the flip 6 and usually play it at 70 to 80% when I'm out doors. I get roughly... 5 ish hours of play. I max the bass out so it might vary for the person playing mostly vocals

How would 2 bose soundlink flex’s in a stereo pair sound against 2 JBL flip 6’s in a stereo pair. Even though the JBL has the tweeter and the bose does not the bose might actually sound better bc I believe it disables the EQ mode when you do the JBL flip 6 in stereo

I mostly play my flip 6 at like 30% volume, and can get close to 20 hours of playtime, I believe the hours of playtime are rated at 60% volume?

It's difficult to tell because a lot is lost in the recording. Even with binaural mics there is frequencies lost and physical feedback from the lows that affect the experience, having said that, from what i can tell the 2x Flip 6 beats the 1x Charge 5 in openness and definition, i would expect that the lower frequencies would be better from the Charge 5 just due to physics but can't tell from here.

Yup. Every showcase video that compares sony and jbl has me thinking "jesus jbl sounds so much better, who in their right mind would pick sony over jbl?". I went to a store one day and compared them myself, Sony was SO much better irl that I'm shocked to this day. Never trust youtube videos when it comes to buying an audio system. Maybe watch it so you get an idea what to test in the shop, but don't base your decision on a video

Great video! Went to best buy today to get a flip 6 and after about 45 minutes, decided on the charge 5. The sound was definitely a deciding factor. Especially after a price match brought the charge 5 close to price of the flip 6.

I appreciate the battery life explanation. I need the better battery life and max volume of the Charge 5. I might forget a speaker if using 2. Gotta kerp it simple and loud.

Charge has more mid freq 200-2000Hz. Flip has hole between 260-530 Hz comparig both recordings and subtracting their bands. Both sound far away from HiFi because of terrible distortion at high frequencies. To listen to this you need to have good company or couple of beers - eventually both at ones ;) Great video! Cheers!

I have 2 JBL Flip 6 (bought them for $45 each) and for that prize it's really cool. I often use it in Stereo when I want to listen to music. IT surely does make a Change. For travel I can just stuff them where I have space left and I can Charge one and use the other one at the same time. Never running out of music

@@Jonathan-wj8tc why does it do that. In my personal opinion it makes it sound more muffled. I had 2 JBL flip 6 speakers in a stereo pair for a week but one of the flip 6’s would not hold a charge and I tried different chargers but I figured out it was the speaker. The other JBL worked fine so I kept it. I really like the sound quality on the flip 6. But I never got to do a full test

I have all three!! But honestly, I think 2 flip 6's would be better....I prefer the xtreme 3 over the charge 5 for loud music, and prefer a flip 6 over the charge 5 for on the go bumping sounds.

@anjaneen the charge 5 is indeed bulky and the worse part is that there is nothing to hold the speaker with. For example, the flip 6 has a carrying lanyard, and the xtreme 3 has the carrying strap.... but the charge 5 has nothing and can only be handled by the actual speaker itself!! Also, the rubber feet on the charge 5 are poorly glued on to the bottom and after a lil while they begin falling off

The flip 5 had better mids and lows then the 6. The 6 is just really clear sounding, but from what I experienced, the flip 5 had a very good deep, punchy full sound.. but I kept the flip 6 only because it’s water and dust resistant so I can go to the beach, also notifys you if the port is wet, and the JBL logo looks cool. Still can’t go wrong with any depending on how you want to use it and where you want to bring it.

the charge 5 has and IP67 while the flip 6 has a IPx7 rating and is not rated for dust resistance.

for me, the flip 5 and 6 has the same low and mids since they both has the same woofer, i think the tweeter on the jbl flip 6 is just sharp.

@@13zplays I got boths, and 6 is probably behind Flip 5, i mean, it doesnt have a balanced sound like the Charge 5 and doesnt sound as deeper as Flip 5. The twetter is very present and the highs take the main sound of the speaker while the woofer go to oblivion at 80% then theres a bit of sound saturation too, like the Flip 4 theres a problem in the high volumes that isnt balanced yet, i hope Flip 7 gonna become a monster as Charge 5.

Bro u said on hundred percent volume flip 6 battery will last for 2 hours i'am not sure i think about 5-6 because in one video you said that on 80% percent of volume the battery will last for 8 hours . I got a Charge 5 the other day as my daughters wanted music whilst in the pool... even at 30% it is loud enough... and waterproof too... but decided to get a second one so we can have stereo/party boost... good speaker for sure and used it for about 6 hours 1st day and barely touched 20% battery

I love wireless stereo mode and use it whenever i have the opportunity. On of those is on my daily commute on my moped. I have two pockets under the handlebar each big enough of a charge 5. Suffice to say my daily commutes are a party

You can ONLY pair two identical speakers in stereo. Every other combination will be PartyBoost.

so I thought that you could only pair 2 of the same speakers to get stereo. However I have the flip 6 and the jbl charge 5 and found that if you pair them together by pressing without the app and then go into the app once they've been paired, IT LETS YOU DO STEREO!!! I was literally about to order another charger 5 to get stereo but there's no need now, I'm so happy I get to save money. But the sound is amazing now

i wouldnt really use this in the house. that's what my atmos home theater is for. i'd use these outside, in the garage, mowing the lawn, riding my bike, etc.

I think it's great for a running club. if you want blast music while you run it's better to mount 2 x JBL Flip 6 on a back and they should fit in a water bottle pouch

I think I like the sound of the flip 6’s better. A little more open and clear and you could probably turn up the bass in the app. The charge 5 sounds muddier and is bigger of course.

I have both I mean (1 charge 5 and 2 flip 6 😅) I decrease 10% volume in charge 5 and all sound at same level. The sound is amazing. I cemented them with Mac and the problem is volumn can’t be control by keyboard (column up/down) so i will be glad if you know anyway to solve it.

I can show u how to gain everything in ur jbl speakers without losing anymore bass or highs.. I used my Samsung a32 dolby atmos to set it clear,, first go to the dolby atmos in ur settings enable it and in there click the adapt sound turn it on to over 60 years old ( is for boosting all frequencies) then click the setting behind 😉 it u will see something like sound preference put it in soft 😉 then enjoy ur music all the way to 100 💯 percent volume I do tried it on my jbl charge 5 TL model and love it better than ND model.. sorry guys I didn't have page on my KZfaq cause of low background...

@@gulburzz The sound difference you are talking about that the charge 5 has bigger bass. I really like the clear sound that is from the flip 6 and since there is a eq for the flip 6 ill just higher the bass. The difference is 50 bucks that is kinda alot.

@@4sussy343 50 bucks that totally worth it and the charge 5 has eq too and you can get a clear sound too so why don't wait a little bit and save for that 50 bucks I haven't regret my purchase since day one and it's been a month just check the review from this guy on all the jbl speakers and you probably will get to a conclusion

Hey love what your doing here I have a charge 5 but thinking of picking up another one I do get a bit of a deal on them my wife works for DigiTech which is a sister company of Harmon ind along with JBL I have all JBL speakers for home with my home system but also running a pair of Bose 701s also but in thinking of maybe just doing 2 of the flip 6s and one charge 5 . It would be great for just my shop area I always take one with me to a job site so it's nice to have my charge 5 it's such a tough decision.i even thought about buying a a bigger one I don't know if may be just a bit big though I will figure it out I. Sure what ever I do it's gonna be a good one my wife she thinks I'm obsessed with JBL well I kind of am even my o er the ear head phones are JBL

I know I'm not new stuff tv but I think you should get the charge 5 or flip 6. because the extreme three is very big so its harder to carry around and its twice the price of a charge 5 or flip 6 .

The real question is with all the JBL speakers. Is it just better to buy two pairs of the older models. I have four of the original boom boxes. The older models are on sale.

I bought two Charge 5 on sale, and the sound separation was awesome. But the Extreme 3 went on sale, so I returned the Charge 5's. I bought for outdoor use, but not backpacking. I would not bother with carrying two speakers. I love that the Extreme 3 is stereo, the extra bass and volume, and the strap. At first not very impressed by the sound difference, but the Extreme 3 sound improved after a break-in period.
