Justice League is a 2017 American superhero film based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name. Produced by RatPac-Dune Entertainment, DC Films, Atlas Entertainment, and Cruel and Unusual Films and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is the fifth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and the follow-up to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon, the film features an ensemble cast including Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds. In the film, Batman and Wonder Woman recruit The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg after the death of Superman to save the world from the catastrophic threat of Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons.
Warner Bros. began to develop a live-action Justice League film in 2007 with George Miller set to direct, but the project was canceled due to production delays and budgetary concerns. A Justice League film would re-enter development as part of Warner Bros' upcoming DC film slate in October 2014, with Snyder on board to direct and Terrio attached to write the script. Principal photography took place from April to October 2016. After Snyder stepped down from the film following the death of his daughter, Whedon was hired to oversee the remainder of post-production, including writing and directing additional scenes, as well as reshooting a large portion of the film, which changed many aspects of it; Snyder ultimately retained sole credit as director. With an estimated production budget of $300 million, Justice League is one of the most expensive films ever made.
Justice League premiered in Los Angeles on November 13, 2017, and was released in the United States on November 17, 2017. The film grossed over $657 million worldwide against a break-even point of $750 million, becoming a box office bomb and losing Warner Bros. Pictures an estimated $60 million. The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the cast performances but criticized the plot, pacing, and computer-generated imagery. Its tone was met with a polarized reception, with some appreciating the lighter tone compared to previous DCEU films and others finding it inconsistent. In the wake of its release, fans began to push for the release of Snyder's original version of the film; Warner Bros. decided to move forward with the project in February 2020. It was released as Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max on March 18, 2021.

Warner Brothers just screws everything up. They don't know how to get out of their own way. Affleck's solo film with Deathstroke as the antagonist would've been awesome. When Warner's messed that up the rest just fell apart. DC and Marvel are different. How do you eff it up when you have Superman and Batman and villains like Deathstroke and Darkseid? I give up. #RestoretheSnyderverse

DC was actually ahead of the game with the Dark Knight trilogy but they didn’t see it. The MCU was just starting to take off as Nolan’s trilogy was ending. If they had made Superman right away (Cavil was the right choice) and Aquaman and Flash I think they’d have been ok. They waited and then made Justice League before all the Stand alone movies were made. Normies didn’t have any connection to the film characters the way they did for the MCU. Snyder had a great vision, Josstice League was an abomination which made it even worse. Once they missed their opportunity with the Dark Knight they should’ve waited. Rebooting Batman that soon was another huge mistake. I’m not even mad at Batfleck, his portrayal felt more like the animated series and I was ok with that, but Bail’s Dark Knight was still too fresh.

Tha animated component of DC is superbly / accurately rendered. From the science to the voice acting to the morphology, DC has it rocked. Now, we need to see this careful manifestation happen with the more real performances. I think the "Batman Begins" movie is a fantastic start. Thank you.

And therein lies the problem. We all have better ideas but those ideas don't translate to mass audiences. These days it's impossible to appease everyone. Too many side agendas trying to make every group feel like they're included. No matter what direction you take the other side will be your ultimate critics and downfall.

Seriously, I think the only way to continue his career "at this point" would be to see his version of John Stewart Green lantern. Dial up his visual image and decrease the emotional aspect would be my recomendation.

It's Snyderverse and it sucked. I don't hold any hope for Gunn's vision either though. He'll likely opt for dumbing down characters for the sake of stupid comedy, as he did with the MCU Guardians flicks.

Darkside was first in DC comics 1970 superman comic. Then Thanos came into Marvel comics in 1973 so Thanos was the rip off they copied off the DC comics first so really Darkside was first ever made from DC.

Thon's was to go up against more than The Avengers because the scrolls was to fight him because thon's was a threat to them and the Scrolls took the superhero characters and powers and had the superheroes in cocoons to keep the superheroes image so, The Avengers inffinity Stone and the ending was a mess because all the superheroes and the storyline of the Scrolls and killed of the mine characters and all the The Avengers characters was never placed in the movies nor have they fought their villains

Snyder sucks. The reason DC lags so far behind is because they keep using writers and directors that don't respect the mythology. A perfect example of how a film is rewarded for respecting the text is the movie Thor. It would have been easy to omit something as silly sounding as a rainbow bridge. Marvel decided to embrace it and turn it into something actually cool looking. DC lacks that kind of courage.

The real issue here, is that people actually think that DC "Flopped" with Snyder, when in reality, all of his films made more than 500 millions, even the worst of the bunch, which was Suicide Squad, made 700 millions. Anything in the film industry that achieves 500 or more, it's, by definition, a hit. But people are trained like parrots and they repeat nonsense just to say "Oh, my taste is better than yours." I can understand people not liking Snyderverse, especially, fans of MCU who grew used to comedy/action films... But to say "These films were a flop" is ridiculous. Snyder brought a lot of money to WB with the films he was involved with. And dude, "a film is rewarded for respecting the text is the movie Thor." Respecting the text? Thor, a badass viking, wise, smart, challenging, proud, completely manly... Turned into a weirdo nerd good for nothing, that can't stop making jokes and acting stupid as if he had some kind of mental issue... I mean... In comics, when someone hurts Asgard or one of his friends, Thor goes full rage unleashed and has even sacrificed his own soul to bring his people back, didn't stop, didn't quit, no matter how tragic, how dark, how obscure life was at the moment, Thor never surrendered, not even when mjolmir decided to turn his back on him, Thor surrendered to depression... In MCU? Got depressed, got fat, and played video games. I mean, most of MCU is the perfect example of how people are easily manipulated into thinking "This is the best thing ever!" when the whole MCU is a disrespect to the canon lore, one punch after the other. The only character they did respect the lore was Iron-man. The others? They're laughable. But sure, they "Respected the text." Right? Just because of a goddam rainbow that has nothing silly about it, because it's culture, REAL FREAKING NORDLING CULTURE, the belief that rainbows are bridges, portals and even gates. Man... You know what? Shut up.

@@robertoj.9509 Wow, you have really strong feelings about this. While I agree with you that what they did to Thor in later movies was disappointing, my point was relating to the first movie. The reality is that DC has floundered while Marvel has redefined the genre. I learned to read with DC comics and I have been frustrated by how they have squandered such a bountiful library of material. With the right people (not Snyder and I don't care if you are related), DC could dominate. I will always root for DC, but Snyder sucks and he blew the biggest opportunity of his life, disappointing DC fans like me. If that makes you scream in your Mom's basement and upsets the first floor crew, maybe that's a good thing and a sign it's time to get your own place.

Henry Cavil and Ben Affleck suffered from poor scripts. Had they had/ been given the type of writing/ directing similar to the avengers movies or captain america civil war those films would have been a sight to behold.

Snyder should've been the one to get the dcu going. Or at least start it.... Straight through, uninterrupted movies.... The build up to justice league. Having their individual movies, the darkseid saga, and then if he wanted to continue... Cool. If not... He could hand it off with a flashpoint reboot the dcu and do something different.... But visually Snyder's movies hit. And he had a great storyline he was going for.... But all these movies are so off. Blue beetle was horrible. Funny. But horrible. And gunns aim with his dcu kinda had me scratching my head.... And personally not big on James Gunn. So I think it'll be another flop for DC.

I would love to know how/why Zach Snyder planned on putting The Riddler from The Batman moviein his movie years before The Batman movie wasnt even a thought back then, Why would he change Ben Afflek from Justice league 1 to 2..... To keep the full team movie, the Justice League to 2 hours, including credits. That's ridiculous. With the infinity stones and end game Avengers fest almost 6 hrs long. It was dark,heroes died, and blood. JL can't show any of that and keep it less dark and with humor. 😢

I have seen both of the versions and Snyder's version is certainly good but very much darker than the one that most of us see. Between the two of them I prefer the main one, much lighter and has funny moments

Snyderverse would have been interesting but that Dr Maru thing doesn't work. Wonder Woman is a goddess. She should be immune to chemicals. Dr Maru is also over 100 years old by this point. She can't do anything like that anymore. New villains would be necessary. Also, the darker thing is....overrated. Lois would definitely have had children with Superman if he returned. Sure, she would have raised Bats' kid but she would have had multiple children with Kal.

again politics in the making of movies.. how about you write a good story,lay out a plot and make it as real and believing as possible.Man of steal was good could have been better,batman vs Superman was another good film and then Justice league 2 versions both of those movies were good,but the 1 that is 4 hours long I have watched 20 times and still can watch it again and again.. as for even the other 2 movies I have watched them 15 to 20 times and I got a lot of ideas that would compel the story into even more interesting plots.all 3 of the movies were good flicks to watch. but leave it up to the powers that be to screw things up and kill any other movie... the original superman movies with Reeves were good,but even reeves said the story's didn't follow with the original movie.... at this point when I was younger the movies had good plots and the actor went with the movies, now a days some movies fail and fail bad take FLASH all CGI and special effects,but it was a very stupid movie..and that is my opinion
