Totally agree. This story had Raylan as side character that acted nothing like the Raylan we love. Mansell was a weak villain with no charisma and no complexity.

Since Raylan is in an occupation where the probability of your offspring following you into that line of work is actually quite high, I could see Willa and Loretta becoming a Kentucky Cagney & Lacey of sorts down the line, being undercover cops in Cin City (Cincinnati, OH) USA having to put up with the remnants of the notorious Newport (KY) Mafia to keep them occupied........

It was the best part.

We thought they "woke" Raylan's character in this season. But at least he's back.

If it comes back with Boyd Crowder like the last episode ended it might have something going for it. Fingers crossed.

It’s important to remember that the original series lasted for many seasons and had many interesting characters. The relationship between Raylan and Boyd developed over a long period and this was important to the show’s popularity. In the original series if you look back on the first scene in the first episode Raylan gives the bad guy the ultimatum to draw his gun or get out of town. That set the tone and expectations for the rest of the series. I understand how viewers were disappointed with the new limited series. Raylan had definitely mellowed over the last 15 years. Although the writers left the possibility open you would have to question why Raylan would come out of retirement after that scene with his ex wife telling him he finally did the right thing for his daughter. Also Boyd is running off to Mexico not going to Florida after Raylan or his family. Given his relationship with Boyd and how they dug coal together I think Raylan would live and let live as long as Boyd offers no threat. However I pity the fool who tries to draw down on Raylan Givens.

@@thomasmedeiros5722 The old Raylan was obsessed with putting Boyd Crowder in jail. There was no "live and let live". Not even a whiff of it. So unless they just changed his character completely (which they may) there is no way he would be content with Crowder's escape.

I think people are so judgemental about this series due to Raylan had a relationship with a black woman, so many negative comments about this show, I watched it and I love it, I also watched the first series and I think his character just loved women no matter what color they were

@@michellegregory5334 It has more to do with the fact she was fat, not that she was black. If they had chosen a more attractive actress to be his love interests on the show it would have been more believable, instead of the obvious woke propaganda that it was. The show creators chose this actress on purpose because they knew it would illicit criticism from the fan base, and would in turn give them a chance to feel virtuous about themselves. But the main reason people are unhappy with the show is because it's poorly written and acted when compared to the original and had none of the homespun charm that use to define the series. If the show had actually been good, most people could have looked past the obvious woke insertion and still enjoyed it.
