GYPSY TALES PODCAST

Күн бұрын

Justin Barcia has been on of my favourite riders since he was on an 85cc 2-stroke ripping MTF and taking out every older rider in his path. He was one of the most hyped amateurs to ever turn pro, and he didn't disappoint. JB went on to earn himself two Lites Supercross titles while also earning his now infamous nickname Bam Bam.
In recent years though, Barcia has let us see a side of him that has always been kept in the dark and it has only added to his legacy as one of the most entertaining riders the sport has ever seen. In this podcast though, you will see a different side of Barcia. Mellow and contemplative as he looks back at the crazy journey he has been on.
We have just launched our new membership platform that will become the first place ALL of our content is going to be launched. Justin is an undercover legend. The dude has been in the top 5 nearly every single year his whole career. Consistently fast, rarely hurt, and an absolute competitor.

Between the Craig episode and this one these last two pods have been like unlocking lore about these characters 😂 Jase you’ve outdone yourself - and Barcia, what a great dude. awesome to hear about how his riding style developed and how he deals with the deeper side of everything as well. Great great great episode 👍

I totally get the "Unapologetic competitivism", I grew up as the smaller younger guy too and I could always do things as hard as I wanted and still never hurt anything. Such a free feeling to just let loose.

@ 26:30 ....... THIS!!! This is why 90% of the fans are here, bc we are the exact same way! When I got grounded as a kid my dad left my toys, my N64, my tv, or whatever else, but he would lock my bmx bike and my dirt bike away bc he knew that was the real punishment and that hurt me more than anything!! Lol, and even still at almost 38yrs old every time I throw my leg over my dirt bike I get giddy and excited to go ride 😂. Dont matter if its at the track, in the woods, or just circles in the yard it NEVER gets old! ✌️

I met JB at the Marshfield fairgrounds. Schnikey was bringing him a 125 motor out of bike Lamson ran in a retro race. I believe it was one of his first races on a big bike. Factory Connection had a fun mover there. Ziggy knocked himself out over the finish line jump. In between motos were all ODing on the "World famous crazy bike". We spent a couple hundred bucks trying to ride that thing 10ft to win 20 bucks. I became fast friends with Don and even made it to Bamland for like a week. Lost contact with them but great people. Great podcast love your work and getting caught up after a long hiatus..

Barcia went from being "Bam Bam" aka the dude who would wreck ur shit and then smile & laugh about it as he passed u lol........ to a guy who has matured so much now that he is a dad and a family man. Granted, as JS7 would say..... "he will still take a b*tch out" 😂 he just doesn't do it on purpose as much anymore!!! Its racing so of course shit happens, but he's evolved past the Bam Bam stage and now seems like a way more technical and dialed in rider. I absolutely LOVE watching JB and Kenny battle, bc its obvious the level of respect they have for each other, but both are still super competitive and push each other harder. JBs the man and this was a great ep! ✌️

First of all, I was fuckin pumped to hear your voice made the new intro for the deegan videos 🤣👌 just wondering, is there a podcast somewhere with you on the other side of the questions? Heard lots of your stories through you interviewing everyone else but would very curious to hear your story and more of the details on how you ended up in the US and why you ended up following moto/supy so closely. Anyways, love the podcast if there's one out there send me a link or let me know where to look cheers! Side note, I temporarily hated Barcia as a racer ( just because of his dirty passes sometimes ) but when I started watching his KZfaq videos my thoughts all changed the guys a beauty and has an awesome personality. His sense of humor is next level haha. Again, cheers

I myself wonder “how do you grow the sport?” I think riders that have KZfaq definitely helps. But when he mentions “there could be a Netflix documentary made on my journey”. Great idea, and what a great guy to start with!🙃 That would trigger the riders even more than they already are on the track. How to do it? Someone needs to invest! You value the people first then fans go “wait, what? They make how much money? Hell yeah, I wanna watch this, or get my kid into this”! Problems I see is tracks aren’t that accessible to go watch (thank god for Peacock to help this year), so the distance seeing in person is difficult. It’s not like NFL where your state has a team (aka there’s not a lot of people talking about it). You need to pick a guy, or a couple. Netflix documentaries on top 10 guys would be great to introduce personalities. There’s no doubt it’s an insane sport, but the fact there’s not a lot of money in it devalues it. If I won the powerball, I would single handedly throw a bunch into the sport to make it grow. Why isn’t big tech etc not interested? That’s what sucks. Needs a better platform/plan.

A Barcia doc would be fun, hilarious and prob draw tons of fans, but a Ken Roczen doc would put people in awe of these riders and inspire tf out of them as to what's possible. Ken's comeback from just insane injury.....(2x) is the most impressive and inspirational comeback story in all of sports imo. Barcia doc would be way less depressing and more light hearted tho lol 😂. I'm a huge fan of both guys so I hope they both get shows and get PAID!! 😁✌️

So around 2:10:00 when you're talking about you guys doing the same thing but not having the same experience and you say "maybe you've done it so many times, maybe your brain just isn't registering it"....I wouldn't say its NOT registering it, I would say, he's done it so many times that his brain know's HOW to register it. Just my thoughts, which obviously means nothing, lol. Yet again, never fails, ANOTHER banger of an episode, as always!!! Cheers!!!

Not saying he not a great rider one of the best. But really he literally knocks someone down every race and the he goes it wasn't me. Everyone knows he does it. But it's great to have drama to. But he can ruin people's championship like jason a little last yr. That's the problem or he really going to hurt people like Dylan

I hear the smallest violin playing softly as you bitch and moan about hard racing. It's moto bro you got the wrong sport if you don't like bar banging. It happens. Neither of these guys are malicious they just want to get ever single position they possibly can and they'll do what they have to in order to get it. I respect it. If they clean out your favorite rider I get it but it is what it is man it's racing.

It's the JASE MCALPINE and Justin "shushush" Barcia episode! NGL, I'm legit pissed how much Barcia and I would gel... because, boy, I despise his racecraft Barcia = "I don't watch much except for all sorts of racing" Me = "Saaame... Wait, FUUUCK!" MFer even likes cyclocross, something that is decently obscure by US standards - I'm gonna have to stop watching before I have to start being a fan because of his out-of-track stuff 😂GOOD NEWS - I can't stand Pidcock, BamBam likes him 🥳 Shit's back on track because I'm a WvA guy through and through BTW, since you're closer to Europe, I'd be awesome for you to hit up any of the Big 3 from cyclocross (Mathieu van der Poel, Wout van Aert or Tom Pidcock). All 3 are also quite famous from their exploits on the roads (WvA is the first rider to ever win a mass sprint, mountain and time trial stage in a single Tour de France) and all 3 have done MTB XC too.
