We’d visit our docs more often if they had your compassion, empathy, and thorough explanatory disposition. You have an awesome bedside manner and it’s appreciated. Thank you. 🦋

I give Justin huge credit for showing a video of himself in such a vulnerable state. I had Bell’s Palsy and it was incredibly painful for two months. I slept all day most days. When I got full mobility back (was scared about it not happening) I was overjoyed. My speech was affected and eating was really difficult during that time. When the nerves were becoming active again, it felt like a searing pain from my ear throughout my jaw. Just noticed you had it too Dr. Gary - much appreciated the share

What a very nice man you are. That comes not just from the trials you have faced, but from how you were raised. You know how to listen and how to see into your patients lives, not just their current problems. And the frosting on the cake is how you explain in a way that belittles no one, whether inside or outside of the medical community. Your family, friends and patients are lucky to have you in their lives.

This is one of the finest presentations on any topic I've ever seen on KZfaq. Dr. Linkov presents a wealth of information so coherently and compactly that it is difficult to imagine improving on it. In particular, his color Venn diagram relating the various probabilities for different causes was outstanding. As a Ph.D. retired professor with nearly 30,000 scientific citations, I'm really impressed by this.

I had Bell's Palsy at 13. (Using the scale you showed, grade 5) My doctor took a large book off the shelf and said, "Read this. Now you know everything I know about it." The only known possible treatment at the time was Benadryl. I couldn't say 'Fried Fish' for months. 50 years later you can still see the effects with one eye that wants to close when I don't want it to, such as when blowing up a balloon; and a crooked smile, especially when I'm tired. Being a music teacher, I had to learn how to play all of the band and orchestra instruments in college. But, the only brass instrument I could play was the tuba and whenever I played a woodwind instruments, my eye would close, leaving me with only one eye to see the music.

I love that you’re a doctor that also has medical issues. It really shows your strength and it gives me hope that I can enter the medical field too regardless of my pain problems.

I had Bell’s palsy about 5 years ago, I looked in the mirror and thought I was having a stroke, went to the emergency room and they shot me up with a steroid and gave me some after care instructions, it was fully gone within 18 days. I’m glad I had good doctors who recognized it right away and got me fixed up. For what it’s worth I do have HS2

My mom had Bell's Palsy some years ago. Based on your chart I would say she was a grade V. She couldn't close her eye and her mouth drooped very badly. The Doctor gave her steroids, but nothing seemed to improve. She had to use eye ointment and tape her eye shut at night. This went on for a couple of months. She didn't want to leave the house and she started getting depressed. My mom had a pretty limited diet and tended to eat the same foods a lot. I thought maybe she should take a Multi Vitamin. I gave her a bottle of Multivitamins and also a bottle of Vitamin E (400 iu) and told her to start taking one a day of each. She called me after just a few days and asked me to come over. Surprisingly, her eye was almost able to close, and her mouth was barely drooping. I couldn't believe it. She was so happy. The funny thing is, she said it was the Vitamin E. She said she couldn't take the multivitamin because it was too big. So she only took the Vitamin E. She kept taking the Vitamin E and she almost fully recovered within 2 weeks. She was able to close her eye completely. When she smiled we could still tell a little bit, but probably wouldn't have been noticable to someone that wasn't looking for it. For her at least, I am convinced the Vitamin E turned out to be an accidental solution to the Bell's Palsy.

Dr. Gary, you are such a kind person. You explained the illness in a very positive manner with plenty of HOPE to those people who suffered the condition! For those who have no idea, I for one what the cause of the illness is, which is a virus. Now I know that it is a serious condition but could be treated if given an immediate attention and care. Thank you...God bless your heart!

My daughter, 49 yo, has Bell’s Palsy on the left side of her face. She’s had it for years. The 7th cranial nerve is affected. She cannot sip from a cup, she has to use a straw. It does affect her eye closing. It also affects her smile. She has a well known neurologist that follows her with MRIs and/or CAT scans a couple times a year. He sees her every 3 months for observation. Having this condition upsets her a lot and on a daily basis. God bless anyone with any health issues that affect your daily lives and happiness. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Prayers for Justin and all who suffer with this and with Bell's Palsy. My brother came down with Bell's Palsy at 16. He got picked on so bad that he quit school and joined the Army. All his life he had a bit of droop to his right cheek near his mouth but it wasn't too bad. He was still handsome as ever. God bless you Doc and I am happy to see you recovered well!

Mahalo my doctor friend for explaining the syndrome. My baby brother had Bells Palsy from riding a bike in bitter cold with no mask all symptoms went away. We as siblings had a good chuckle…little bro is a real buster to us. All is well God is Good.

I went through the same 15 years a go when I was in college. I can imagine how he is going through. It is terrifying. I was told it might take 6 month or more or even permanent. I was taking medication and also facial exercises. When I sleep I have to cover my eye not to get dry. After 3 weeks I was be able to move my face. And slowly everything goes away. Thank god I didn’t experience vertigo or Ear pain. Also no hearing loss. I hope and pray for fast recovery Justin.

My 15 year old daughter had Ramsey hunt and it was terrifying. The doctors had never even seen a case of it in our area. She was part of a case study through childrens medical center. After many months of tests, doctors, and many hospital visits, she recovered with no long term facial droop. I hope he heals well.
