@@heights163 Sanchez was by no means elite But all these people acting like he was Complete trash are ignorant. He went to 2 AFC Championships with THE JETS. Think about that. While it is true he wasnt the biggest factor that got them there, you still have to be a somewhat decent QB to accomplish that

As a Chargers fan, I initially liked but didn't love the Herbert pick. At the time, both scouts and advanced stats were pretty down on Herbert, but I thought he was a good calculated risk at no. 6. I really warmed up to Herbert after seeing in this video how quickly his mind worked at dissecting film and plays. Smart quarterbacks aren't always successful; they need a quick tactical mind -- absorb gameplans/playbooks, dissect defenses, communicate with teammates, react to broken plays. Of course, Herbert shattered all expectations, even for the biggest die-hard Chargers homers.

Not really related to this video but in Japan they say that the second son is usually the most successful in sports. The reasoning is that you’ll start playing the sport at an early age because of influence from the bigger brother and will always be competing to beat him. Ichiro, Matsui, Ohtani are all the second son.

After watching this, I am even more perplexed how Klatt gave Herbert a 2nd round grade. Then again, Drew Brees was picked in the 2nd round, so I admit, none of this is a science. No QB coming out of college will be perfect, but GMs must project a floor and ceiling. How could you not strongly project a kid like this: 6'6, 240, 4.7 40, a 39 wonderlic, a 4.02 biology major, a strong work ethic, who completed more than 90 td passes in his college career? I think it is hard to project too how someone with Herbert's intelligence will then navigate becoming a professional. The fact he immediately began working on his footwork, his mechanics, and his touch -- that he hired 3DB and worked with Tom House and John Beck right after he graduated -- simply shows he wasn't cut from the same cloth.
