I’m a 75 year old piano player who humbly considers myself a fair pianist……. and then I see this amazing kid…….pretty sure when I was his age I wasn’t playing that! There may be, in my opinion, some crappy music in our world today, but there are still some 1,000 % geniuses out there! Total respect for Justin and his family!

Justin Schultz has a Very good technique. This music reminds me of Spyro Gyra. I wish these young musicians would break out of the mainstream jazz sound and become more exotic and develop their own personality similar to Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Sadao Watanabe, Cassiopea to name a few.

for the average music LISTENER, it comes down to preferences, and for that average listener, it is all about familiar tunes and melodies, a definitive ending, a theme you return to, a hook, if you will, and always enhanced by meaningful lyrics. The music in this video, RELATIVE to what I just said, is perfect example of music that goes nowhere. Now, to experienced keyboard players like myself, or other musicians, we can fully appreciate the incredible skill of this prodigy, and furthermore, to other owners of the Korg Nautilus, also like myself, it is more tribute and recognition to the wonderful Italian Grand piano sound which is pure magic to us. But again, to the average music listener, and more important in the industry, the average BUYER, this type of music will bore them to tears..LOL.....I pretty much love all styles of music and appreciate them all, including contemporary jazz like this.....
