You forgot to mention, all T-54s, T-55s, and T-62s with a " -1 " designation have uprated engines. Plus, the issue with the gunner sight is the backup telescopic sight is used instead of the digital sight for some reason

The T-55AM-1 was the first premium tank i ever bought and the second most profitable for SL, just behind the Sho't Kal Dalet before i put more and more efforts in different trees and relative tanks (premiums and not). A solid tank, for a very solid 8.3 and 8.7 line-up with is brother T-62M-1 that kicks hard thanks to that 3BM28 sabot and the missile are just a plus gimmick (works fine for overpressure light vehicles or for the 55AM, to deal with some heavy targets, like the Conqueror with add-on armor that is resiliant to the 3BM25); now with trying to grind out Swedish tanks at 7.7, i remember why i bought it and how painfull is fighting that, even knowing the M728 APDS is able to pen the UFP or aiming directly at the barrel to have a chance. At least HESH shells launched in the cupola still decapitate it...i'm sorry i should said 🅱️ESH, because it's funny to knock-out a T-55 (and many other targets) with those rounds from a cheese wedge🤣

would recommend this over the TURMS 100% of the time. Very high win rate when played correctly, can easily carry matches especially in those sweet 7.3 downtiers. Still grinds USSR top tier just as fast as the TURMS, RP multiplier is sliiiiiiiiightly lower but the better games you will get in this thing will make up for it all the time. I used the T-55AM1,and i was able to get the T-64B, T-80B, T-80U, T-80BVM, and 2S6 in just 15 days, playing 2-3 hours a day.

That of40 on Karelia had no parts so he was able to fire but with less accuracy and velocity, been in rb for at least a year and a half

AM-1 is definitely better than the AMD-1, as the HEAT protection is much more useful than an APS. Plus the AMD-1 being up tiered is worse off.

Love your content Justin. I have been holding getting it to fill my Russian 8.3 line up but you have me convinced. I usually play 7.3 French with AML and AMX13-90, one of my highlights is wrecking the AM-1 and T62 that with the AML. Set one on fire, then the second one. Finished both it was intense.

yeah that exist in realistic for years if you dont have parts and your cannon is broken u can fire but the penetretion is degressed by a lot but if u have heat rounds u can still pen

Why the am 1 is still at 8.3 is beyond me its like the situation with the bmp 2M. It took a buff the vehicle didnt need for it to finally go up in br and its still borderline OP.

APBC is the BEST round for t55 and its the last russian tanks before you start suffering with heat.. i spaded my t55a in a day or two in ground assault arcade(then the rp gain was better) and at the time because of its BR it gets put with top tier. its not great for frontal shots, but just a little bit of side armour and you'll be one shotting m1a1s, etc. where i noticed most top tier usually 2 shot them with darts and was confused at first to why the m1s or leos next to me were struggling with side shots when i was basically one shotting targets

Somehow this is the same BR as the chieftan MK3 ... this things easily the most broken OP premium ground vehicle .

Rule of thumb on my pov: Powerful enemies with gun depression, destroy cannon pipe works all the time.

The lack of good hull protection against darts and a huge breech is still why i think this was downtiered from 8.7 to 8.3. The same reason goes for the T-62M1 which was absolutelly fine at 9.0 and had a decent reverse speed and manouvrability as does the T-55AM(i also think the 62m1 is better than the 64a) but whatever

T-55AM best tank but so many people just buy 72AV

This tank makes playing 7.3 Britain, USA, France, and Sweden a living nightmare. If your gun isn't an 105 L7 canon or a 120 mm conqueror your tank doesn't stand a chance against this thing's composite armor. Not to mention it's firepower and mobility are also amazing. I have it but don't use it in downtiers because it's just blatantly unfair to the opponent.

Though the T-55AM is certainly good for its BR, and objectively better than the T-55A (except for the gunner sight, which is a downgrade), I wouldn't rank it as one of the best at its BR. It inherits the bad reload rate/turret traverse/gun elevation speed/gun depression of the base T-55A, and the top speed/mobility is still sub-par. Having a laser range finder and being one of the few tanks at 8.3 with armor that can take a hit in the front helps, but overall the AM still behaves like the standard T-55A. That being said, if you find the AM impressive, I think you will also find the original T-55A to be way too good for its BR of 8.0/8.3 (I forgor). I have it, I think it looks really cool, and I enjoy playing it every now and then but compared to things like the Object 906 (not only in terms of performance for the BR but directly i.e scouting+mobility+top speed forwards/reverse+4s reload+same pen APCBC) or the AMD (ability to rush ATGM armed light tanks, can even shoot down main gun rounds fired by the BMP-1) it doesn't offer much. 7.3/7.7 tanks not being able to lolpen you in areas from the front is not that impressive, and the meta at 8.0+ is defined by firepower+mobility and not armor+low(ish) profile (that comes at the expense of the former two aspects). I'd rather get the TURMST if I was looking for a soviet prem to grind out the tech tree. I think the Soviets are way stronger at 9.7 than at 8.3 (SU-7BKL/BMK, P/V Hinds, T72B, BMP-2M, etc.), and the TURMST (unlike the T-55AM) holds up at higher BRs. TLDR The things the AM improves on are not exactly the things that were holding back the base model to begin with IMO.

6.7? Karelia is like 5.7 max, anything higher and it's just a die-fest. Same thing with Mozdok and so many other maps. Gaijin loves to add new vehicles but they can't design a map for the life of them.

The missile spam on the T55 is so damn annoying

As much as i like Justin's vids, he needs to put time stamps or segments for the gameplay, instead of taking nearly 7 mins to get going.

You may have not covered this vehicle in a while but remember you covered the AMD-1 and that was basically the exact same thing (minus the premium bonuses obviously) but I'm still bothered it went up to 8.7, that aps system is really not that big of a deal to warrant a br change.
