I watched a vid where Aba and Preach were reacting to the Matt Rife "controversy". They commented that they thought it interesting that people who originally thought Matt Rife was funny when he was making jokes about everyone else, suddenly got offended by his comedy when the jokes were about themselves. And about the hypocrisy of it.

Nothing. Everything can be joked about. Nobody is above criticism to laugh at yourself or anyone or anything... but there is such a thing as time and place, and how hard you wanna joke... a light joke vs a super mean joke there is a difference.

The point of jokes is to be funny. I think anything can be joked about. But if you're making a joke a weapon, a form of ridicule, etc- it's not a joke anymore. You're just hurting ppl at their own expense.

That line of thinking only benefits the offended party bc the way they feel is subjective and their limits are self-imposed... so however it may have been intended, the motive is irrelevant to their hurt feelings. Comics are by definition there to make you laugh, yet they're held to ridiculous standards bc someone that bought a ticket, chose to sit down and watch, decided they got offended and now that comic is responsible

To Jason Cheny, Nagasaki & Hiroshima took place on Japanese soil with America as the aggressors. I don’t see how the United States would observe both events equally in commemoration. But the flip side to the argument is why does the United States observe the concentration camps in Germany (like 9/11 when it never took place on American soil). The answer is because post WW2, Japan immediately became allies with America by design while Germany partially became a part of USSR. This is why you’ll hear all the atrocities of the advisories (Germany) told by the victors (America) but never hear things like the rape of nanking where the imperial Japanese military killed 300,000 Chinese people in a year. Also, I heard a few times Joe compare imperial Japan to the nazis in more than one video. The Nazis were an actual political party like the democrats and republicans. Imperial Japan was a constitutional monarchy. Totally different. Hitler invoked hope and prosperity for Germany with propaganda. Japanese back in WW2 saw emperor Hirohito as an actual living God who they would die for.

Japan had been in constant wars for hundreds of years -until end of WW2. It’s incredible how they since then were able to put peace as number one priority -no guns no wars. And of all countries it was the US who lead them to be the anti war/weapons country they are now.
