And here I am feeling a bit silly… When you said a tube scarf in my mind I saw a cowl thinking you’d never get that over your head… 😂 When the penny finally dropped I actually thought it was fantastic and clever. Making it that way instead of using two strands makes a softer and more pliable fabric in the end… Those antique patterns really are excellent teachers…

You taught me something today. I've never seen a tubed scarf. That sounds crazy, doesn't it. But I've never seen or heard of making a scarf in the shape of a tube. I like this. Regardless of the yarn I use, i think it'll turn out better because you won't have edges that curl up. I think it'll lay better on you is what I'm saying. I need to make this. Thank you so much! ❤❤
@3rdand105
@3rdand105 9 ай бұрын
Actually, if I'm knitting a scarf, I make a tube and sew the ends up. There's another method, but I'm still learning. Flat knitting tends to curl without a border, but a tube does not. For what it's worth...

Hi, Corinna! Just wanted to let you know that you're an absolute delight to listen to. I usually have you on while I'm crocheting (right now, I'm making a sweater out of this fine and super soft thread, using a 1.25mm hook, with the linked DC! I modify it in places to use my beloved HDC, instead, lol) because it's so relaxing, listening to you. You are a very cheeky and pleasant person and I'm grateful for your videos. Also, I do not know if I've commented this before or maybe I just thought of doing so, but if you'd like a solution to your going off camera issue, I have one! When you get ready to film, just place something on the couch where you can see it's centered on camera, and then keep your work over it. That way, you don't have to keep checking and readjusting your camera; all you have to do is make sure that your hands are above the mark! Anything, like a piece of tape, or perhaps even a pincushion in your couch - just anything that will stick without moving around. That way, you won't have to worry about whether or not your work is centered in the camera because so long as your hands are over it, you are! I hope that helps if you do try it out. I'm not one who makes videos, but I heard this somewhere else and it seems to work a charm.

When it said "join" I think the pattern ment to that's when you join your second colour. So it wasnt a tube scarf just and ordinary scarf which would also make sense why it was worked as rows in the pattern rather than rounds.

Without specific instructions it is hard to even assume what they 'routinely' did. One thought... since you had an extra opening at the end... instead of making do, consider making that extra space in the middle of the scarf instead of at an end. Then it looks like it was always supposed to be that way. Any sneak peaks coming for the next tutorial?

I grew up in a lobster fishing community/family and netting was worked to make bait bags for the traps. It was worked over a mesh board so that all the openings in the net would be the same. There were different sized boards for different sized meshes for different nets. You would load the twine on to a netting needle and there is a process where you bring the needle with the twine through a loop and around the mesh board ad tie a knot at in the twine at the top of the mesh board locking that loop that is on the mesh board in place. You would continue around the net bag making all the loops the same mesh size. Spent many hours watching my dad make bait bags during the winter to be ready for fiahing in the spring and summer.

Not sure if you ever ended up finding it out, but the netting they're talking about there is making net like fish nets. The 'mesh' was the flat stick or dowel they used to get the net holes a uniform size. I'm actually trying to teach myself how to do it out of some old sources now!
