Baby the brand JW Anderson is not 'haute couture' 😂

@Audrey Asher Didn't mean to come across as 'condescending' but I'm afraid you're wrong. Haute couture IS a protected term (it's even a a special designation created by the French government) that is commonly misused as there are very specific rules that need to be met to achieve the term. To be accepted you need to meet the requirements of the 'Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture'. JW Anderson is a fabulous fashion brand and is definitely high quality but just because they are owned by the conglomerate LVMH doesn't classify them as 'haute couture'. For example Louis Vuitton which is one of the biggest fashion brands in the world isn't even considered to be haute couture and that doesn't take away from the fact that it is still an incredibly influential fashion house. Also fashion houses can lose their 'haute couture' status if they fail to meet the requirements, e.g. Givenchy lost it's status in spring 2013. I would advise you look into the term and the difference between 'couture' and 'haute couture' before you try and use it in the future...

Even though JW Anderson is high fashion, it is not haute couture :) there are only A FEW brands that are listed as haute couture, and there is a whole federation to certified who is haute couture which i believed there is only about 40 something couturier in the world that is certified and listed on their website. So yeh it is a term you have to be careful before using and do proper research about it.

You really are. I bought my yarn a few days before this video came out. I bought the extra chunky yarn, like they said in the pattern, I was suspicious however because the close up looked like just multiple strands of yarn together.... Well now this video comes out and my suspicions are confirmed. I'm sure it will be just as good with the chunky yarn, definitely easier to knit, but somehow it doesn't sit right with me 😂 My next suspicion is that it's not actually wool, but at least a mix (which is what I got)

@@mirandaosh2046 yes, he sent the cardigan back so they could take the measurements and share on the internet for the fans, because a lot of the fans we're trying to remake the cardigan and some had more success than others and he wanted everyone to get the perfect measurements and do a good job.

@@Cynthyaluiza why would he do that? his cardigan wasn´t made to measure for him and JWAnderson already had the specifications of the item, the company produced it! and sold it!

It's probably because she's Finnish and in Finnish we use the word 'handwriting' ('käsiala') for knitting tension aswell.

Ananya I am following the a tutorial from To Be So Kat on KZfaq. She is really good at explaining things and she is going step by step so you don’t get confused. I am almost half way done and it’s looking pretty good. And don’t worry there are really only 2 types of stitches ( knit stitch and purl stitch) and once you get those down you can basically do any pattern. But beware of the black and red square it is a little tricky but it’s not as hard as what she is doing in this video 😁😁

This is why I haven’t knitted it so far. She says that you will have multiple plys with the actual pattern, so does that mean doubling up on the dk? Tripling?? Ugh super confused.

@@madelynmoss4656 She does mean doubling/tripling up, holding it double would probably be fine (and give you a nicer drape) than holding triple, as it can get quite stiff holding triple with 8mm needles. The best thing to do would be to try holding it double and knitting a practice square 22st across and maybe two inches high (a gague swatch). When you measure your gague swatch compare it against the pattern which is 18st measures 14cm (do not count the two stitches on either side they are just to stabalise the part you need to measure). If your swatch is too big then go down a needle size to a 7mm and try another. If your swatch is too small you might want to try holding triple or going up to a 9mm needle. Hope that makes sense! if things are still confusing dm me, i have a knitting instagram @tea.and.leaves and am always happy to help :)

That cause by your tension being too tight, you gauge is meant to be 18 stitches = 14 cm so you can either add more yarn to your ply or use larger knitting needles or both to make sure it’s the correct gauge. I mean it doesn’t make too much difference as this is a very patch work pattern but if you’re ever knitting something more exact you’ll need to try and match as much as possible so you can make sure it fits
