K-28 100th Birthday Special Train Oct 16, 2023

8 ай бұрынOn Monday October 16th, 2023, the Durango and Silverton ran a special train commemorating the 100th anniversary of the K-28 class loco running on these rails. The mixed train with special mid-train helper ran with #473 on the lead and #476 as mid-train helper.
The train departed at 7a and we catch it here several locations up to Rockwood. The train will do many run bys and special photo opportunities along the trip to Silverton.

To me, there is something so incredibly beautiful seeing #476 steaming in the middle as a kind of helper locomotive.

478 has possibly the most beautiful whistle of all the locomotives at D&S OR C&T. 5 chimes are just surreal, especially when they echo on their surroundings.
