Thanks for great samples. Bought 1/8 filter for my Leica Q - a dream combination. Never take this filter off.

I agree with your summary; 1/8 filter just takes the edge of the sharpness. The ¼ filter is too strong in most examples. However the lighting situation and the proximity of the subject to the lens also affects the result a lot. Thanks for the video, I will go ahead and get some 1/8 filters.

1/4 might be cool at night but for a normal day time shot it's just too strong, especially when there's a strong light

I use a 1/4 almost permanently on my Sigma 35 f1.4 and honestly it doesn't look excessive, sometimes I even forget about the mist effect that it's actually there. The magnitude depends a lot on the lighting and camera settings. Many of the shots in this video were shot in broad daylight, and I assume no lens hood was used. This would definitely make the 1/4 effect a bit strong.

Thank you . I will buy the 1/4 for my 35 mm lens. The video did not specify the lens that he used. .

Thanks! Helped me make a decision. Def 1/8 as 1/4 can be too much and sometimes looks like the actual lens is dirty lol.

I recently got the VND+1/4 and I just have to say that it is CRAZY strong. There are very, very few circumstances where I could ever see myself using the 1/4.

Is there a reason why the 1/4 has a slight warmer color and the 1/8 has the slightly colder/blue tone?

It's a pity some of your shots' focus was not synchronized therefore making the comparison impossible. But there were still plenty of very useful shots and comparisons therefore you earned my like. Thank you!

@@MariuszGajdzik This is a very reasonable question. I recently bought a HOYA variable ND filter, and when I unpacked it I found that other filters cannot be screwed onto it, not even a lens cap can be put on it! I was very disappointed.
@MariuszGajdzik
@MariuszGajdzik 9 ай бұрын
@@ivandj707 sadly many variable ND filters do that, I guess they assume this would be the last filter that will be put onto a lens 🤷🏻‍♂️

The stength actually depends on the focal lenght, because the effect gets stronger with longer focal lenght.
