I sit down with K Koke at his studio to talk about his brand new EP 'FFF'.
We discuss his hiatus from music and the journey he's been through since his last single with ROCnation dropped.
Koke touches on reasons that he and the label parted ways, and breaks down the new 'FFF' EP.
We also talk about time Koke spent in prison, certain scenarios he had to go through whilst there & what his plan is now he's out & making music again!
Koke also confirms he'll be dropping an album later this year, as well as a couple of BIG collaborations on the project!

Yeh, I’m fully aware of what’s going on in the ‘road’ part of that scene, there’s even things in Koke’s current situation & other rappers I’ve had in recently - but when I talk about things, refer to success rates or how we’ll scenes are doing I’m talking PURELY from a musical perspective. What happens in the streets & outside the music isn’t part of my world so I don’t make it my business. I’m just about music so when you consider it that way, when I’m playing a larger commercial club in Brighton for example & I’ve got (middle class) people requesting headie one and 67 etc I consider that as the music from that scene reaching new heights and becoming popular / successful outside of the areas that it’s made. DJDUBLTV hello you say you don’t make what is going on in the outside world your business, That is your choice, but when you are aware that the drill is connected to the attacks and murder going on ? I work with a lot of the young youth in london and take inspiration when I have talks with them about drill and they blatantly admit that the drill is not something to get involved in or take the lyrics in either.. We know that young minds can be easily influenced by negativity and most of the drill I hear if not all is not doing anything positive for the youth.. only negative jail, serious injuries, or death with another family in tragedy of a lost member. Middle or high class don’t mind hearing the negative hip hop or drill as long as they or family or friends don’t die over it..

Avon Barksdale I understand but I was born in the 60s and have watched things get worse over the decades..I'm coming from a time when hip hop was more a political voice against the USA government ..grandmaster flash, B.D.P dem man deh..I seen how it's become a part tool to fight and kill the everyday man who common just like myself.

I fully get where you're coming from, and my reasoning for not talking or glorifying any of the violent / road stuff that these rappers get up to is the exact same reason you gave in the comment - young people are very impressionable & by me talking about certain aspects (drugs, violence etc) in my interviews, it's almost a glorification of it all. I like the music, but I don't like the street side of it all, so I avoid talking about it as much as I can. Thanks for watching!
