@@theplainofhoes Even with Yuqi’s quite chesty approach, she’s still pretty bright and not that weighty at all especially in her mix. Like SoupVelvet indicated, there are sopranos like Solji, Jea (an underdeveloped (but not that bad though lol) full lyric IMO), Eunji, Ock Joohyun who are weightier than her especially in their mixes lol. Yuqi’s approach is kind of like a similar but weaker approach to MAMAMOO Solar’s tbh. Examples of mezzos in KPOP who definitely are weightier than Yuqi are Kim Boa from SPICA and the two oldest members of Big Mama (especially Jiyoung who should be your textbook example of a mezzo lol).

Even mezzos like Kim Boa and Miley Cyrus still have good tone (without getting too breathy or lowering their larynx to that extent) below their supported ranges. Her mix is even too bright and lacks enough weight even with the chesty-quality to be mezzo-quality (kind of like Solar a bit). She also lowers her larynx too often as well to give off the “dark” tone as well.

Girl groups yeah BUT boy groups leave A LOT to be desired; even ONEUS, the strongest 4th gen BG vocal line so far (if we leave out ONEWE since they’re technically a redebut) isn’t that great tbh lol.

Jiwoo really surprised me. Personally I think she is safely W-A, maybe low to mid level W-A. Really didn't expect her to handle a sustained B4 that well. Kyujin had very nice A4's and Sullyoon with good B4's (could've been better if she opened up a bit more) and maybe Kyu could be better than Sullyoon but then again, the gap between Kyujin, Sullyoon and Jinni aren't too big. Also. is it just me or did it sound like Lily, Bae and Jinni were not that warmed up for that performance. Bae was a lot more messy than she usually is and Jinni let nasality overwhelm her with her one single line. Lily fared better but during her bridge, it sounded like she wasn't really handling her breath properly when she had to sustain notes. And Haewon absolutely ate with the 3.5 words she was given.

Miyeon is already better than rosé cause rosé is very shallow and always pull her stylic styles while miyeon has a full support similar to nayeon but they are both good and unique vocalist

@@eloole3270 Rosé isn’t very shallow though, but she doesn’t have a solid grasp of support either. Miyeon and Rosé are on par / interchangeable. They both struggle w/ support sometimes (inconsistency issues), Miyeon also can be messier w/ her placement. Plus Nayeon isn’t really different from both, just a bit above since she’s better and more consistent above G#4 (she has underwhelming moments too). They all suffer from tension and nasality, all of them are on the shallow side when it comes to support.

@@hiiuma729 I think that nayeon is noticeably less shallow than them, she's usually full between G#3/A3-G#4, her problems with shallowness star above G#4, she also has some full Bb4s. When she's focused she can sound as an average girlie, what is mantaining her out of that tier are her problems with inconsistency and her lack of muscle memory, while in miyeon's and rose's case there's a major lack of vocal development because they are always shallow in their mixs, even at their best. Miyeon and Rose would be more around low to mid w-a, while nayeon would be mid to high. As you said they are not far, but after hearing some materials of the 3, it's noticeably the gap of development

@@Hatshe175 Disagreed, her current grasp of support is still on the weaker side. Her predebut (Sixteen)- very beginning of her debut era was better as she was fuller, less messy and nasal. She was better w/ G#4-B4 area. I literally know some examples of her weak moments above F#4. She currently has no average-worthy moments. Nayeon would be a mid w-a and Miyeon & Rosé would be low w-a.

So for pristin there are only 4 members who support, there is yehana, sungyeon, eunwoo and roa. Yehana can support down to A3 and up to Bb4, she's mostly throaty and pushy and her mix is chesty. Sungyeon can support down to A3 and up to B4, her mix can stay balanced most of the time, she kind of regressed due to her extreme nasality and tighness, she is also shouty above C5. Eunwoo can support down to A3 and up to Bb4, she is nasal and throaty and her support is still shallow. Roa can support down to A3 and up to A4, she's nasal and her support is shallow and inconsistent. For kyulkyung she doesn't support she's mostly throaty, nasal and airy. Same thing for the others. And for Suyeon (weki meki) she's in Average Tier, her supported range might be A3 - Bb4/B4 i'm not sure

Giselle is better than Lia. She is less shallow than her, but the gap between them isn't that big

Sunmi would be weak I presume considering she has shallowly supported from A3 - A4. Although most materials are from Wonder Girl days so… Getting away from half air half voice (jYp style) should be a priority.

I don’t think there’s wrong with having a stylistic approach as long you know better or how to turn it on and off at will, but it becomes a problem when the stylistic approach is not technically optimal, it’s ingrained into your overall technique and you don’t know how to sing more optimally or better than that certain approach.

Jongho is a mid-average vocalist iirc. His mix is quite messy and lacks fullness from what I’ve seen so far. As for ONEUS, as a ToMoon/ONEUS fan myself, they’re one of the better ones for sure, but based on their main vocalists who make up their vocal line (Seoho + Keonhee) and the stuff I’ve seen from them so far, I’m quite wary in putting them as one of the leading vocal lines of the 4th gen. Based on the average skill of ONEUS main vocalists altogether (Seoho as low-mid average and Keonhee as low-mid W-A…he’s more shallow and quite more frequently that shallow than I thought lol), this gives a good amount of room of consideration of other vocal lines who could be leading or at least can edge ONEUS altogether.

@@davidakbar4876 There is a noticeable gap between Seoho and Keonhee but not ***that*** big lmao since Seoho isn’t that great and he’s on the lower half of the average tier anyways (more like >> tbh). There shouldn’t be too much of a gap between Keonhee and Yedam (and Seungmin ig but idk him that well to have an absolute judgement lol) tbh since these guys can be pretty shallow usually…again, Keonhee is more shallow and frequently so than I thought lol. Also, is Seungmin really that high on the W tier (or even in W-A) to be ahead of Yedam though? I know Yedam is quite shallow from what I’ve seen from him so far…I know people who would put him in the bottom end of W-A, but personally, the 2 BTS guys (JK and V, pretty quite wary and on edge to mention them but oh well since they’re my personal threshold lol) have better and less shallow moments than he does within their supported ranges even though not the most consistent lol and it was or is even generous to put them exactly or somewhere in the W-A tier tbh (they’re like fringe or even low-fringe (that’s a lot though) material) lmao. chowon is not a very strong vocalist. she is an amazing singer and it sounds like she is an experienced vocalist because of her rich belts but her support lacks a lot due to its shallowness and inconsistency. i think she is the 4th (maybe 3rd) best vocalist in lightsum. i think nayoung is best and then juhyeon then yujeong then chowon

@@breats4703 Sullyoon yes. Her B4 wasn't the fullest but there was shallow support. Kyujin on the other hand is quite arguable. Definitely had one of her best A4's so far in that performance. I'd say the A4's were on the not-so-shallow side and the final A4 she had in the last chorus was definitely an instance of her having fuller support than she's usually shown.
