9th century CE or a little later. The origin of Malayalam calendar dates back to year 825 CE. The formation of the language is mainly attributed to geographical separation of Kerala from the Tamil country and the influence of immigrant Tulu-Canarese Brahmins in Kerala. So malayalam is as old as tamil

The other three south indian languages are sanskrit based and have no relation to "dravidian" tamil. So dont compare those nice languages with tamil which has been raped by dravidian political forces... மலையாள பட பாடல்கள் கேளுங்கள்... நம் டப்பாங்குத்து டுமீல் போல அல்ல அருமையாக இருக்கும்
