How much better do you think it is? From your experience because I have definitely beat guys with k04 upgraded turbocharger. I’m thinking about doing it but I’m also looking at a Garrett

@@URMOMSMILKMANKo4 tends to damage engine internals and the garrets seem to really spin the tires so you choose what route you want to take, upgrade to complete Audi tt suspension with garret would be my choice as I’m doing in the future with my 337

It’s Petroleum jelly, I’ve been using it for years with zero issues, turns to liquid when hot and falls off

@@carwerks101 - Exactly. Petroleum eats rubber. If you are using Buna-N o-rings then you should be okay. But some rubber will swell and eventually disintegrate when in contact with petroleum products. It's just not a good practice to use petroleum jelly to lubricate any rubber gaskets. This is Auto Tech 101, first day of class.

K04 cali CC here.. catless downpipe but i have to pay every other year to do the "smog". Its hurts my pocket but better than swapping when the time comes.

They stay tight, you don’t remove them, you slide the turbo out and when you tighten the tip nuts it wedges it in tight to the bottom bars

This looks like a hybrid as the genuine k04 doesn't have the DV on the compressor housing.. But a genuine k04 comes from S3 or ed30 yes

Okay thanks for the response I put it in the first hole instead of the top but I didn’t put a washer on the plug bolt, I kept the one that it came with and now it’s leaking oil but this video helped out I wasn’t sure if I was able to put the coolant Iine in the first one instead of the top

You're thinking the MK6 Golf R, the GTI has the good ol k03

you don't have to swap out any internals of the engine, you will definitely need a clutch upgrade if you are a manual

The Golf R/Audi/S3/SEAT Leon Cupras have a stronger engine than the the GTI

@@slonky821 They all are strong engines that can hold 400hp+, the weak link is the HPFP and injectors.

I never loosen the bottom bolts, its a wedge so all you need to do is remove the top nuts

Never loosen the bottom bolts where the two chamfered plates are on the exhaust side. The turbocharger manifold rests on those plates, then tighten the top bolts. It is one BiAtcH to get it right in one shot. I always wear gloves because is going to be one hella maneuver. It goes by feel, I rarely see when mounting it, is difficult to explain, as long as you align the top bolts, maybe have someone from the top guide it and tell you if it is kinking against anything on the engine bay. Try to guide it to the right (timing side) and then go easy from above, it is almost like magic, it falls on its own, be very patient, be on a good mood when doing this job.

carwerks101 well all I’ve been doing is mad research. Found that cbfa motors have a pzev emission warranty with a laundry list of items covered 150k or 10 years. Idk if the dealer would cover the stud but it’s worth a shot. I tried welding on to it but no luck

No, this isn't the K04-0064 for an MK5/MK6 Golf application if you were wondering. The cold side of the unit is shaped differently.

this is is milled and has the adapater added like the APR k04 turbo

@@AdammP not much experience with the k03 hybrid, but i know the k04 has been very good for daily driving and has nice top end compared to the k03

@@carwerks101 nice thanks, one more question then I'll stop being a pain in the arse... Is it compulsory to run S3 injectors with a k04. Or is it possible to run a tune with stock k03 injectors which can provide enough fuel for the new turbo. I've been studying the med9 for years now on winols and can do my own maps no problem. But still running a k03. I can scale 3 bar map sensors and change rail pressure etc if I need to upgrade the injectors. I can't find much info on Audi world or Audi sport forums regarding stock injectors with k03. If you have to run S3 injectors then the whole upgrade starts getting over a 1000 bucks easily

@@AdammP most people just run the 3bar sensor on stock injectors

I use eBay ones, Ali express to be specific. My first Ali’s express k04 lasted 3 years running 24 psi from day one. I chop off the internal waste gate and weld the flapper shut go external gated. Not sure if that’s why they hold strong, but I’ve never had an issue using eBay turbos, the people that complain about them, likley install them wrong I’m assuming 😂😂 dumb cunts and then they shit on eBay and China turbos. Do the job right and they’re the exact same quality wise.

Not to mention a trusty brand will cost you upwards of 700$ usd And China ones cost only 150-280$ in my experience atleast.

@@Boofedit What do you mean about weld the flapper?

@@ElJaviTuning your waste gate is a spring loaded actuator, but the gate itself is on the turbo so removing the internal actuator youre still left with the flapper or "gate" which would be lose and free of all tension so it would be useless without welding it closed. weld it closed or find a way to stop it opening freely, must not leak because this flapper or gate is now redundant if youre installing an external gate. you dont want that pressure relief happening internally if youve gone external. hope that clears it up.
