The last step in getting your I-129F (K1 fiance visa) approved is going for an interview in your home country!
In this video, I will talk about my experience with my K1 Visa Interview. I share what to expect the day of, what questions they asked me and what documents I brought with me!
The best tips for passing: you must be honest, have a genuine relationship and follow all of the USCIS requirements!
Advice on what I think gets a higher chance of approval:
- Prepare for your interview, know your forms (129F)
- Make sure to bring all supporting documentation
- Be on time
- Dress nice
- Be calm
- Give simple answers

I had my interview 3 weeks ago and my visa was approved. It was so easy because I was confident and we had all the documentation. The officer asked me 5 questions: 1. How did you meet him? 2. How many times have you been together? 3. Tell me about the wedding 4. Have you lived abroad? 5. Where do you live in Colombia? My fiance was with me at the american embassy so I consider it was a good point. The officer was a nice person. I hope my comment helps you.

Yeah she was born in GDL Jalisco but moved out here when she was 2 but moved back with the family at 16 than I met her online at 17 found out she used too be in my sisters class for school

What is the best way to answer, When did you guy's meet and where? Do I have to be specific like give the exact date or much much better to say "a while now" since it's been more than 2 years. Hello! I really like your videos guys, they explain a lot! I wish I've seen your videos before applying for my K-1 visa. My petition got accepted 21 September 2018 after 6 months of waiting. We did all process with a lawyer. Now I have a question: Do I need to bring with me all the documents on the interview, since lawyer already sent things like evidence of support, paychecks etc with our package? I'm also a bit of afraid of the doctor because in the past I was suffering from panic attacks (like 10 years ago) :( I hope it is not the reason to be denied. What do you think?

Are you able to pick which embassy or consulate you do your interview at? And is there a time frame that it is required to be done by? For example, if they send you the letter saying the interview can be booked, is there a specific time limit by which you have to do it by? Just trying to plan out the timeline. Also, did you ever try to visit on an ESTA while this application process was going on? Thanks so much for your help!

I had 1 question, so for proof of income did your wife show her income? I am a graduate school student, i currently receive about 25k a year in loans from the government to live off, could I have my parents for income? or will mine suffice .. thanks !

Hi Triple T, You have to be above national poverty levels, here is a useful website so you can see the numbers. aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines If it is a household of two people, then you have to be above$12,140. From what you tell me, I believe you are ok. Good luck with your journey!

How do you get a copy of the I-129 packet? Is the notice of approval sufficient? This puzzles me because USCIS does not return this document but instead sends it to NVC after they approve it. My fiance called the USCIS and that's what he was told. Thanks for your response.

Hi Maidee, The first step is to make sure you have all the requirements to apply for the visa. If you do then you have to file form 129f. We offer help if you want to apply fast and without complications. Good luck!

Crees que tenga algún problema por que no trabajo? Sigo estudiando y mi plan es terminar la carrera allá y trabajar al mismo tiempo en lo que sea. Mi prometido sí puede mantenerme y todo. Según yo (porque sí leí los requisitos de la página) tener un título universitario no es algo obligatorio, o tal vez debería conseguir aquí un trabajo también mientras espero para que tenga algo qué responder si me preguntan qué hago... Hey David, Yes, what we showed was tax returns, W2, letter from employer stating annual income and bank statements. I brought to the interview and had no issues. Best wishes!

Hi. i was just wondering why you never mentioned about proof of relationship in this video. did the first or second interviewer ask for pictures and emails or chat logs? i know everyone prepares them but do they actually look for it during the interview? i just asked my fiance to scan and email to me all our tickets and receipts of our trips together, printed lots of photos and chat logs. am i overdoing it?

Hi Rouselle. The proof of relationship goes with the 129f packet. The interviewers at the embassy did not ask me for any pictures, emails or chat logs. I was only asked for my fiances affidavit of support. It is always safe to bring pictures and evidence to the embassy but they might not ask you for them. You do need to know the information about your fiance. (parents name, date of birth, city of birth, what does she/he do for a living, how did you meet, when was the last time you saw each other, etc.). Hope it helps.

Hey man, I have a very important question that needs answered ASAP because my fiancé’s interview is in 6 days! I don’t have a job and haven’t had a job in the states ever, I’ve been working in china, that’s how I met my girl. So I got my brother to get a joint sponsor. He gave us his tax forms and W2 for 2017 and 2016, he doesn’t have that for 2018 yet. Is this going to make my fiancé be denied? I’m very scared this will get her denied. What do you think?

Hi, Every interview is different. The more information you have the better. As long as you are above poverty guidelines it should not be an issue. Regarding the 2018 forms, it would be better to have them but maybe the officer will understand. Maybe your friend can show some proof (letter) proving his employment for 2018. Good luck.

I am self-employed as the petitioner with my income meeting the appropiate guidelines. Do you think self employed or employed matters for the interviewer when he or she looks at the affidavit of support? They should just look at my tax returns and sufficient income, right?

I am the petitioner ... I received a Email letter from NVC they let me know that my fiance's application is on the way to Cd. Juarez ... and that the Consulate will notify us of the appointment date . My question is ... When do i pay for the interview fee ? ... Online or in person ? ... and how did you pay for the interview fee ?

The NVC will email you stating the received your paperwork then wait until they email you because in the email it gives you the URL address to click on to go and pay for the visa fee. When you have paid the fee then you schedule the interview yourself. I hope this helps

Hi Daisy, I went on my own to both. No problem at all. It is up to you if you want your spouse/fiance to go with you. They might not let them in to the interview or medical though so just keep that in mind. They might have to wait outside.

Question: so, I am about to graduate from a university with a BSN in nursing. I plan on starting work around July-October. What I do now only help with my schooling and my parents support me too. I've been dating my fiance for about a year now. If I start working with my bsn licence and apply for a fiance visa right away, do you think the government will give me any trouble since my past tax return will not reflect what i will be doing. Meaning, I will be working as a nurse but my last tax return will be care giver prn and RA, making less than $20k/yr

Hi Mae! Congrats on your graduation! When I filled out this part, I tried to include as much information as possible so in addition to tax returns, I also included a letter from my current employer noting my salary. At the end of the forms, you also have an opportunity to provide more information or explanation. My understanding is that they want to see that you can support your fiance when they come to the US and that you are above the poverty line. If you google poverty guidelines then this should give you more information numberwise. Hopefully this is helpful! Good luck!

100% of the poverty level which is $16,240 USD for k-1 visa and 125% ($20,300 USD) at the moment you submit the Adjustment of Status. Type of proof will be: - Tax returns - Pay Stubs - Assets (Investments, clear and free cars and real estate) If you dont meet the income requirements you can always have someone to support you (family members and friends). They will have to submit an Affidavit of Support with the packet.

Yes, he needs a passport for the K1 visa and to get into the United States. Get it as soon as possible.

You mentioned that the interviewer will ask about "plans for a wedding." What if my fiance and I aren't going to have some large wedding? We're both super busy, as I'll have just graduated college when he arrives and he'll be so stressed from traveling/moving to a brand new place that we agreed we'd hold off on a big wedding until later after we are completely settled in the U.S. We just plan to go to a courthouse the first week he gets here. Is that an OK answer?

Kekoa Coratibo I sent my binder in last week. I think when it comes interview time, my fiancé is gonna say we're doing something small and personal with family.. Cuz my fam are the only people that will be there at the courthouse ceremony lol. They surely can't expect everyone to be throwing big weddings/celebrations.

Same here, this is such a stressful process, surely nobody would even be able to throw a huge wedding without even having much notice of when they were gonna do it. I think most people must get small weddings in this scenario.

The interview is where the foreign fiance lives. (K1 visa) Green card interview is in the USA. If they dont speak English the interview can be in Spanish.

In our case me (foreign fiance) was the only one that had an interview. Every case is different so I cannot give you a specific list but here is the US government website with the details on how to apply: www.uscis.gov/family/family-us-citizens/fiancee-visa/visas-fiancees-us-citizens Yes, you need proof of relationship. Hi, It depends on how it is asked, but the interviewer will specify. Usually, it is the last time you saw each other in person.

Hello again, thank for your reply, anyway I just had my interview yesterday, and luckily I passed, the officer took all the evidence of genuine relationship and they he look at it very carefully..and asked just on!y 2 questions..but before that there's also an initial interview it was a Chinese woman officer and she was very nice, she asked me 3 questions and that's was it.. interview is done..

I am sponsoring my fiancee who lives in Manila. I have an immigration attorney and I am giving her the tax returns to prove I am able to support my fiancee. Should I send a copy of my tax returns to my fiancee to have with her? If they already have the documents she shouldn't need to bring a copy of my tax returns. Any help would be appreciated.
