The K2 FIT 80 BOA inline skate is just an all around bad deal.
The K2 FIT 80 BOA inline skate is equipped with shoddy abec 5 bearings paired with weak 80a hardness wheels making for a combination that is sure to disappoint even the greenest of beginners.
K2 FIT 80 BOA inline skate has a plastic chassis meaning that for $200 it is completely overpriced especially when compared to a similar model like the Zetrablade from Rollerblade.
NOTE: I am NOT an affiliate and didn't get JACK SHIT for doing this review. I am just an independent inline skate enthusiast who would like to help as many people as I can get a great deal on rollerblades so they can get outside and be healthier by doing more cardio.
Want to make sure I actually skate the hundreds of km's I say I do? You should! So many people are full of it. I gps every skate I do and upload them to Strava. You can find them all here: / strava
Thank you for watching! Thank you even more for liking the video and commenting on it.
Cheers!!

I got those... they were bloody garbage, most uncomfortable skates I ever wore. Should have gone with FR 80s. I got these after a few years off skating due to injury and as my SEBA FRX 80s did not fit anymore... didnt think my feet would grow a size in my 30s, weird. I have to agree, K2 as a brand, garbage. Horrible skate, not comfy at all. At best these may work on a rink, certainly not outdoors. Support sucks and there is zero cushioning, the insole was the thinnest I have ever seen, so you are absorbing all shock and the bolt is going right into your heel. The moulded wheel frames were at a weird degree angle, so forces your feet outwards too far, so you cannot roll with a natural position going straight. The ankle support was weak, far too much movement and once you break the boot in, just collapses. The WORST part is the boa system, it sounds good in theory, but in practice not great. You cannot adjust the tightness in specific areas, it will tighten uniformly. So if you need it tighter around the ankle but not your foot, it will cut off blood to your foot, not great, laces are better. I prefer tighter around the ankle and less around my foot. I wanted to like them, but for $250, Rollerblade make a better budget rec skate, but honestly you are better off getting FR 80 skates for the same price with a hard shell, amazingly comfy Liner, better bearings, wheels and custom options. These things can look and sound cool, but in reality are bloody crap. Downside is you dont realise this until you use them and thus, cannot return them.

Thank you so much for this comment man. It's invaluable to have a detailed comment like this to go along with the review. Hopefully we can save other skaters time and money by warning them avoiding this model! I agree with everything you've said here, especially the part about wanting to have the laces tight around the ankle but not the toes. I cut the boa wire off my other pair and replaced it with laces recently and it is so much better. It came to that because like you said I found out too late they were uncomfortable but I could not return them because they were used. I've not been able to get a pair of FR80's in my size but will keep looking...super excited to try them based on your recommendation sounds like we have the same kind of feet and skate needs. Thank you again for taking the time to leave such a detailed and insightful comment, it is much appreciated! Have a good one man, -Jamie

Hi Phillipp! Thank you for the comment! If you can find a pair of Zetrablades or Macroblade 80's by Rollerblade you'll get better value for your money for sure. If you're going to buy K2's you're far better off to spend a little more for the upgraded models in my opinion. Hope that helps! Any other questions please feel free to ask and hopefully I can help! I was considering getting these K2’s until I watched your review. I grew up skating but haven’t skated in 15 years and just looking for a good pair to help me teach and skate w my 6 year old. Looking to spend between $150-$200, what would you recommend at that price point?

Hi Doug! Sorry for the delay in reply, once u out the skates away I really lost focus on the channel here. Anyways, I'd go with the macroblade 80 for that price. You can get 5,000km out of a pair easy with only 2 sets of wheels if you rotate them frequently. Hope that helps! Any other questions feel free to ask! Have a good one!

Hi Gabriel, I'd go with Powerslide infinity wheels and K2 ILQ 9 classic plus bearings (or better). I'm using that combo on all my skates now and love the speed, comfort and durability. Hope that helps!

Do you think these would be worth it for $60 with a pad set lightly used just getting into skating since i was a kid and dont want to drop too much to start up again then probably look into some FRXs
@TheLastHonestInfluencer

Oh heck yeah. $60 for lightly used is totally worth it. I think you got the right idea your first pair just need to be comfortable enough to let you get back into it and then you can start looking at your quote "serious pair". Enjoy!!

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer they were uncomfortable at first, but ive built up the muscles (I lift a lot but hard to target the muscles used to skate). I also changed out the bearings which helped a lot. Wear them a bit looser now and im honestly quite happy with them for the current price. True to size fits great! Thanks again for this vid. Cheers.

I have these, been skating them for about a year. While not amazing, I find them very comfortable, Im able to get them almost as tight as my ski boots with the BOA system, i love the BOA laces, absolutely no issue after about 500 miles on them. I did replace the wheels/bearings as they were slow, but I mean it's basically low budget resistance training. I skate around my local city and parks. I know they're fitness skates but i do some pretty aggressive skating in them and its been (moderately) successful. Surprisingly I actually was able to a slightly modified soul grind on these. (i dont know trick names yet i just kinda do a thing and look it up to see what its similar too) The only thing i don't like is the plastic frames. I've had a few falls that have beat them up quite a bit. They are a fine skate but definitely overpriced.

Thank you so much for the insightful comment! I love what you said about old wheels and bearings being free resistance training 🤣 it definitely feels that way!! And then when you finally get a new set you feel so damn fast all the time. What you said makes perfect sense. I think if I had kept them long term and used them longer they would have eventually worked for me, this was more of a first impressions video, I'm still pretty new at this stuff. Great comments like yours will help others truly decide if these skates are right for them. Thank you so much and have a great day!

How well a bearing spins without any weight on it doesn't say anything about how well it spins under pressure. Also, a new, well greased bearing usually doesnt spin that well when you spin it by hand, as the grease holds it back. A bearing that is old and completely dry can, however, spin like for ever in your hand, as theres no grease/liquid holding it back. Doesnt say anything bout its performance when skating it though. Also, the ABEC scale is pretty useless for inline skate bearings, you wont feel a difference between an ABEC 1 or ABEC 9 (general build quality assumed). Just fyi.
@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment! While I agree with you that how a bearing spins without weight on it isn't a perfect indication of how it will preform with weight on it I do think it does say something about how the bearings spin overall. My skates that spin freely without pressure always preform better than the pairs I have that have obvious sticking points and friction spots and don't spin well without pressure. I can tell when skating on them and my times on the skates with freer rolling bearings are always faster, that is how I came to the conclusion, but I respect your position! Agree completely that the ABEC scale is useless I haven't noticed much of a speed difference at all between them. The ILQ's though I notice a massive difference. Thank you for taking the time to comment and thank you for leaving your opinion! Have a good one, -Jamie

If you're from the states try inlinewarehouse.com they usually have a pretty good stock. Amazon as a last resort. If you're from Canada try sportchek. I noticed that the new one has aluminum frame, do you think the new version is better?
@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer 2 ай бұрын
I’ve found the aluminum frames last longer, after 5-6 years the plastic shows quite a bit more wear and tear so if they’re the same price I’d go with aluminum. The aluminum is slightly heavier but you don’t really notice.

Hello, question regarding those thin wire laces. Are they durable or do they look like they break or snap easily?
@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@TheLastHonestInfluencer 3 жыл бұрын
So far the ones on my K2 V02's and macroblade 80's have not snapped. That being said, they are so thin I have noticed on both pairs they are cutting into the skate boot and tounge...which is not good. Wish these companies would just go with normal shoe laces! I suppose it is possible to cut the thin quick lace out and replace it with a shoe lace but Maybe I'll try that for a video once the skates are a little older. If you can, try to get a pair with normal laces is my advice, but if the pair you want have a quick lace it should be ok (I've got over 2,000kms on my V02'S and the boot is just starting to rip from the laces now). Hope that helps! Have a good one and thank you for the comment.

@@Mendosen86 I don't have this exact pair anymore because I got rid of them so I can't say 100% for these...but on most models (the ones I own) yes. You can cut the quick lace out and just thread regular shoe laces through the eyelets. There are a few other KZfaqrs who have done this but the videos are hard to find. I'll look for a link for you. If I ever cut mine out I'll make a tutorial.
