Perhaps we need a bit of marketing and instead of calling it Raw we all start calling it Fresh. Who would say we shouldn't feed any animal fresh food?

Good idea Debbie, will change my language to, "Fresh food," when discussing raw versus kibble.

And it doesn't have to be raw, it can be lightly cooked. I agree, the characterization needs improvement

This is last bag of dry food i bought for my Newfoundland, ive been adding gently cooked to Orrgins fish kibbĺe '1st 6 ingredients are raw...'? When i found out Mars bought Orrgins, that was it! Mars was an old client when I had the top brass at the hotel I handled meetings & didn't like Mars 20 years ago & still feel the same!!!😮

Raw vs kibble is just so frustrating-- common sense says REAL FRESH FOOD is healthier for anyone. I always make the point to friends that they feed fresh food to the animals in the zoo.. why aren't you for your loved pet? Thanks for this- I will spread far and wide.. for the animals that deserve better food. One day the lightbulb will go on for many more pet parents.. keep up the fight. YOU BOTH are AMAZING!

The traditional vets say kibble is good...NOT. I told a few people about the raw diet who have issues with their dogs due to cheap kibble but they would rather believe the traditional vet than fact.

What's funny is when I did my zoo animal nutrition training, the summary was "mimick the wild diet", that was basically the whole of the training. What does my local zoo feed it's big cats? Excess calfs from local dairy farms, raw. So they KNOW THIS, just not apparently when applied to dogs. The argument is : "dogs aren't wolves, they evolved with humans. So feed them raw bones, offal and leftovers? No! Don't do that! Feed them ultra processed kibble!

I am so glad I found you! I've been feeding 1 of my 5 dogs a cooked diet after years of skin/gut issues. I tried sooooo many things & got fed up & "winged it" for a year. He's so much better & vet said his bloodwork showed he needed some more fiber (thankfully they didn't push a kibble). Recently decided to start feeding them all a stew style home cooked food. At the same time, found your videos. I've learned so much & in the short couple of months feeding this way I've seen improvements in them all. Thank you for getting this info out!!!

Good idea. Pay an annual fee to a vet, have a visit when needed at no visit cost, that promotes all good health practices. The vet makes money by less visits because the dogs/cats are healthy and rarely need a vet. Win-win.

Can you take your Beloved to the clinic you left instead will they let you in sooner, so you don't have to wait till October? As I know you know of course, elders can't be waiting months and months for help. How awful, I thought our vet hospital in Hermosillo was busy but at least I can get my Beloveds taken care of asap and the hospital has all the diagnostic equipment and I know right away all the results during my visit. US seems to have gone nuts-oyez. My, I am grateful living in Mexico.

Dr Morgan, I am about to switch my large GSD to raw. My wife is concerned about our dog chewing raw bones with a previous tooth extraction and possibly cracked tooth still remaining. Will small poultry bones (i.e. wings, necks) be too much or should we use bone meal for a while until his dental health improves? Thanks in advance!
@judymorgan4241

I would think small bones would be a great starting place. Raw bones are relatively soft.

But what could be the problem if you are feeding raw but you still having problems as far as issues with the skin or even though you use preventatives which you want to stop using your dog still ends up getting fleas

This a great webinar. I feed my dog mildly cook meat and mix in vegetables. I give only one cup or less of kibble. Found a powder supplement mix from Dr. Andrew Jones from Canada and my dogs lumps and bumps are healing up.

Hi! I am a veterinarian from Finland. I find this topic extremely fascinating. The thing that bothers me is that you keep comparing kibble with sugary treats. It's like saying that all breads and fruit is bad too because they have carbs. All carbs are not equal and it is the amount that counts.
@judymorgan4241
@judymorgan4241 2 жыл бұрын
That is true, however kibble is loaded with starchy carbs. Most breads are bad in my opinion. Kibble is over 50% carbs. Very bad.
@rachealjohnson9739
@rachealjohnson9739 Жыл бұрын
i think the carbs are bad is more leaning into like us humans. kibble uses simple carbs which is not very healthy for us humans, we should ingest complex carbs. if dogs have to eat carbs, complex would be a better way because its what bodies naturally need (if needed for whatever reason/ what works for your dog)

Why don't traditional vet practices just pivot a little into holistic offerings like food options and alternative care? Is it an issue from the large companies almost forcing the vet's to practice a certain way or the vets simply not wanting to take on additional schooling for holistic options? From where I sit I can see vets at the very least taking a 50/50 split balance because at the end of the day people like options and variety so why not offer traditional and holistic in the same place. I personally take my pets both to a traditional and holistic practice and wish they were all in one location. All I keep hearing and reading about is how vets are getting burned out and clinics are jammed packed and often have to turn patients away which in my case has happened many times when I have tried getting my pets into the most local reputable clinics. Why not now when burnout is such a problem pivot into a direction that will decrease the work load. IDK maybe I'm just being ignorant and close minded of all the other million little things going on behind the scenes.

Partly because they have no training in holistic healing and feeding, partly because corporate veterinary practices push what the corporate owners want them to push (commercial kibble made by the parent company that owns the veterinary clinics...)

@@judymorgan4241 I really wish I could say this shocked me but I'm not surprised. I went down the rabbit hole with my cancer pup of over one year post HSA and Primary lung cancer diagnosis and haven't looked back. I will say one thing though the oncology team at UW Madison in WI has been great treating my pup through there clinical trials she's apart of the TBX Immunotherapy trial. As of now Dr Katz in Downers Grove is her holistic vet and they do Ozone treatments which seem to help. Like you mentioned in this interview emergency clinics are overwhelmed and one tool I wish every pet parent was aware of is the YB and homeopathic phosphorus bleed protocol.

This man has a "functional medicine," approach. These functional medicune M.Ds look for cause, rather than treating symptoms. Humans: Find a functional medicine practioner. You will pay out of pocket because insurance wont pay.

Yeah you would never catch a vet saying hey you need to feed the snake salad because it would be dead so why are dogs and cats getting abused because this is abuse it's abuse not by the owners who are trusting in listening to their veterinarians in trusting in the pet food companies but it is false advertising in every name of the word

Dr. Conor, you give too much credit to veterinarians who were so easily brainwashed by the propaganda of big pharma and big pet food corporations. Shame on those veterinarians who are too close minded and too lazy to keep learning in their careers. I, like you, have a Ph.D. in science (biochemistry, UC Berkeley, CA). Not impressed with most veterinarians. No comparison to a Ph.D. in which we had to do original research and had to think on our feet every minute of that degree process. Memorizing facts and propaganda and spitting it out like a robot is not the same level. Dr. Judy Morgan, Dr. Ron Shultz, Dr. Karen Becker, Dr. Andrew Jones are rare DVM intellects in a field of mediocre.

Hate to say it but drs are the same. Lack nutrition knowledge and diseases. I’ve had Crohn’s disease for 25 yrs n no surgeries n no long term immunosupresssnts despite having it moderate to severe n in oesophagus which is rare. How do I do so well? DIET. Low sugar n fat in general n healthy whole food plant based foods that lack ultra processing. It’s that some n yet that hard. It’s NOT good for drs business when patients in remission with no treatment as doesn’t keep me as a returning patient. Also the meds have the known preservatives and additive triggers which is ridiculous and absurd. Diet plays a Huge role in all diseases. Genetics is part of issue but environmental factors trigger the diseases in humans n pets. Hippocrates once said - let food be thy medicine or thy poison! I could not agree more Keep going as on tight track.
