In an ancient village, there lived a devout worshiper of Lord Rama named Shubhankar. He dedicated his life to the recitation of Ramayana and the worship of Lord Rama, finding solace in his devotion, regardless of the audience's presence. During a visit to Narayanpur, he resolved to narrate the Ramayana at the local temple for nine days. Despite the priest's skepticism about the villagers' interest in spiritual discourses, Shubhankar's unwavering faith believed that the divine themselves were his audience.
Intriguingly, a miserly wealthy man, known for his frugality, visited the temple. Upon hearing that Shubhankar was to receive divine dakshina (a spiritual offering) of 101 coins, the miser conceived a plan to profit by offering 50 coins in advance, hoping to claim the larger sum later. However, as fate would have it, Shubhankar received no humanly dakshina but devoted all contributions to the temple and prasad (spiritual food offering).
On the final day, in a dramatic turn of events, when the miser demanded his share, a miraculous interaction unfolded between the idols of Lord Rama and Hanuman. The Lord instructed Hanuman to ensure Shubhankar received the promised dakshina. When the miser attempted to take the modest collection of 11 rupees from the temple floor, Hanuman's idol miraculously held onto his leg, preventing him from leaving until he fulfilled his promise.
