About the debate on Holey Artisan Bakery incident I kinda disagree with almost everything you guys said (keywordbeing almost). So, here's my two cents on why I feel Ruba Ahmed has a point. In a nutshell, I don't think preservation of creative freedom is more important than the mental well-being of the family and friends of the victims. Liberation war vs Holey Artisan Bakery (HAB) incident The liberation war is not only a historical event that happened decades ago, it was also a lagre scale event. Although it started with a genocide, a lot of people volunteered to fight for the cause. Also, it was not a one night event. Our people had a chance to fight back. It was not an easy option, but it was an option. So, I feel like this is a very unfair comparison. The HAB incident involved helpless individuals whose family members are still trying to process what happened. Those who died, they were absolutely helpless. Those who wanted to help, they couldn't. Comparing an act of terrorism to a nine month war is completely out of touch. Perhaps, a better comparison can be depicting the death on a few specific individuals who lost their family members during operation search light that particularly identifies them. Even that is not a perfect comparison because operation searchlight happened half a century ago while the HAB incident happened less than ten years ago. Another important factor is the glorification of the traumatic event. While the liberation war saw the death of a lot of people, something good came out of it. The same can't be said about the HAB incident. It was a pure and utter tragedy. India vs BD Maybe it's hard to grasp in Bangladeshi culture, but there is a thing called cultural appropriation. When a different culture tries to exploit the traums of our culture without understanding the nuances of the situation, it's not okay. But more importantly, the Indian film, according to what I heard in the press conference by Ruba Ahmed, portrays real individuals, including herself and just changes up the names. To be frank, it's just blatant plagiarism. They weren't even creative about it. It's not possible that so many characters in the movie can resemble so many real life individuals coincidentally. So, there is a huge consent issue there. On the other hand, the Bangla movie fictionalised the story. It was not a "copy my homework but change it up a little bit" situation afaik. So, the Bangla one has indeed exercised creative freedom if what I gathered is true (I haven't watched any of the films in case I have to spill it). So, I don't see the Bangla one as problematic. It was handled respectfully (I hope). However, I do understand that it still doesn't make the families and friends of the victims recover from the trauma any better. If anything, it probably makes a difficult journey further difficult. News vs Movies News reports are just that, news reports. They report the facts. They are supposed to be concise and factual. It disseminates public info. Whereas, movies have a narrative. They portray the perspective of the characters in them, how they felt, how the thought. So, when movies revolve around not only a real events but also real people without their consent, it's problematic. One thing Ruba Ahmed pointed out was that the Indian movie portrayed the male character as a savior and the female characters as victims. This is a baseless narrative about two or more real people who are no longer with us. This is basically "trauma porn" if you ask me. If these two were fictional characters, it wouldn't be that bad maybe. But they are just portraying real people with fake names slapped on them. Imagine being a mother and watching a false, sexist narrative about the untimely, horrific death of your only daughter. Even if there's a blurry, thin line defining when portraying the trauma of real people for profit becomes unacceptable, this has to be beyond that line. Lastly, similar events have happened in Western media. Look up Gabbie Hannah and you will find out an incident about her capitalising on the death of a person. Her family had to relive their trauma because Gabbie wanted to grab a quick buck. And this was one of the things that led to Gabbie becoming irrelevant on social media. It's not that this is completely unprecedented. At the end of the day, our collective moral stance is what matters the most and, after hearing your conversation, I feel that Bangladesh has a long way to go.

হিন্দি মুভি নিয়ে , এনায়েত ভাই যা বলেছেন , তা খুবি যথার্থ । আমাদের নিজস্ব মুভির বানিজ্যিক এবং গানঠিক দুই অবস্থা সম্পর্কেই আমরা খুব ভালোভাবেই জানি । দুটোই বাজে । তাই আমাদের দেশিয় মানুষরা এর বিকল্প হিসেবে এতো বেশি বাইরের মুভি দেখে এখন । বিশেষ করে এখন । এর কারনি হচ্ছে, ইন্দি ভাষার কন্টেন্ট এ প্রসারন ঘটেছে । আমরা একটু লক্ষ্য করলেই বুঝতে পারি , বিভিন্ন স্ট্রিমিং প্লাটফর্ম , নেটফ্লিক্স ,এমাজন এরকম সবকিছুতেই হিন্দি ডাবিং হয় এখন রীতিমত । যার ফলে সেখানে আমাদের দেশেরো একটা বেশ মোটামুটি ভালো সংখ্যার মানুষ দর্শক হিসেবে যাচ্ছে এখন । এর কারন হিন্দি ভাষার কন্টেন্টগত প্রসারন । মুল কথা হচ্ছে, নিজের দেশে যদি হিন্দি আরো সহজ করে , বলিউড বা তামিল তেলেগু ইন্ডাস্ট্রি মুভিগুলো রিলিজ দেয়া হয় , এতে করে নিজের যতটুকু দর্শক আজ নিজের দেশের মুভিগুলো একটু হলেও দেখে, তখন তারা আর সেটাও দেখবে না । পাশাপাশি হল কতৃপক্ষরাও তখন ভারতীয় মুভি কন্টেন্ট গুলো নিজের দেশে রীতিমত রিলিজ করে ব্যবসা করতে চাবে । তাই আমার মতে, এই ধরনের ভারতীয় মুভিগুলো আমাদের দেশে রিলিজ না দেয়া হোক
