I feel like the Mantis 8 with the single motor already competes well with the Dualtron Mini seeing as that also only has a single motor. I actually like the fact that the 8 has tubeless tires. At this point, I refuse to by a scooter than doesn't have either tubeless or solid tires.

I'd prefer the non pro due to the lower weight. I've had so many heavy and powerful dual motor scooters that sometimes it's more fun to just cruise and hop off every curb in sight.

What you guys have to do is a comparison for an e scooter like lets say mantis pro vs a conventional 50cc petrol moped which still has a large piece of the market.

I think you should mention on your website review that you have tested the single motor. I've just read through you content and it does not say which motor config your team was riding.

Updated! Thanks for reading the review. We think of the Mantis 8 as the single motor and the Mantis 8 Pro as the dual motor, but we should absolutely be clear.

Is the suspension adjustable? And can you please talk about the Stem issues and if it has been fixed? Thank you guys! You are all doing a wonderful job!

Thank you so much! Yes, technically, you can adjust pre-load on the spring, which would affect where, in the range of motion, you start when you've got your weight on the scooter. For me, at 160 lbs, I'm sitting right at the top when sitting still. So it reserves a lot of suspension range for big bumps, but does top out a little. For Ramier, I think it's in the right spot. There are videos out there which show how to adjust the pre-load on Manti, but one warning, if you back off the pre-load too far you run the risk of backing it out all the way, or just not having enough threads engaged to be safe. So I can't recommend it until I spend some time really understanding what the limits are. The stem feel is spectacularly good, and the issues have been resolved. I have a call today with Fluidfreeride to go over the details. We'll have full details in the review and Live-Show deep-dive.

How to you change the tires ? There’s not one video on KZfaq or mention in any of your reviews on how to change out a tire for the 8 inch mantis. I’m considering to purchase the ma this 8 but am a little concerned about the lack of information of maintenance on the tires out there. Also as of today I can’t find anyone who has the tires for this scooter in stock.

We haven't changed tires on the Mantis 8 yet either. It's tubeless, so there is much less chance of getting a pinch flat, and adding tire sealant ahead of time will take care of most small punctures. I expect that until folks start really wearing out the tires on the 8's, there won't be many videos on this. The best suggestion I can make for now is to check out other tubeless tire replacement videos, like for the Ninebot Max (not the same, diameter, I know). -Paul

Oh, it's coming! Performance testing has been done, and I'm taking the Fiido range-testing today. We're re-tooling our video format a little bit right now, which is pushing the schedule back a week or two, but we think the end product will be worth it. :-)

No, You'd do fine. One of the good thing about this scooter for smaller riders is that the handlebars are lower than the other Mantis scooters. -Paul

Mantis Base is a classic. Great value! The Mantis 8 we test here is the single motor 800W version, which has a much bigger battery than the 500W dual motor version. So this one from Fluidfreeride has better handling and better range, but less power for sure than the 500W dual motor or the classic Mantis Base. -Paul

I've seen that video too. I understand his frustration on some of the items, but I think it's reasonable to have to do some maintenance, including tightening bolts and applying loc-tite, over the course of 500 miles. In fact, almost all motorcycles require a "600 mile service". If it's the video I'm thinking of, he was tightening tiny battery cover screws in an attempt to firm up the stem, when he really just needed to tighten up the bolts on the sides, and apply some loc-tite. Same thing with the flat tires. His sudden spate of flat tires was almost for sure related to running lower tire pressure because of the stem-shape of the tubes. Yes, he shouldn't have needed to bend the stems to make them work, but I think that would have solved most of his problems.

@@roadracer311 that i could agree but some of it wasn't his fault it was the design fault . for instance the wheel was out of true that the disc rorarty wasn't aligned with the brake caliper hitting against one another, another issue it had was the front wheel bottom that is shaped an '' L'' had no clearance it was hitting up against the board deck. that you cannot blame the user end. All the littlest micro details of the cons the review guides always leave out.

@@dreadknot2238 Yeah, I didn't really understand what was going on with his hub. It's actually possible to have a caliper rub on the hub from mis-adjusting a caliper, so the caliper wear itself didn't seem to prove that there was an issue. But I am curious about what was out-of-round. I had forgotten about that part.
