Sahir Ludhianvi's Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein sung by Mahendra Kapoor in 1960 before Yash Chopra's classic film. Mahendra Kapoor presented his rendition in a different composition in the Silver Jubilee party of B. R. Films Dhool Ka Phool in 1960.
Before that the song was earlier recorded in the voice of Sudha Malhotra and Geeta Dutt by Khaiyaam for a shelved film of Chetan Anand in the 1950s.
