Kactoily 7-1 monitor VS-Initial unboxing setup and 1st impression

In todays video we look at unboxing and intial set up of the Kactoily 7 in wireless vs a unbranded Chinese 6 in 1 water monitor.
This is a continuation of the long hunt to find a reliable ORP meter to assist with my Ozone journey.

Nice unboxing and initial review Dave. My readings have been very steady with the Kactoily, and I must be getting close to the 6 month mark for recalibration. Will be watching to see how it performs for your set up…. 👍🏼

nice job I installed a old Neptune apex controller off a reef tank I had it’s a bit over kill but it works nice video keep them coming

Don't have any of my old reef gear anymore. Bet it works a treat doesn't it? Wish I'd kept some of the stuff inc the lights

My initial thought on the kactoily were very positive however it soon changed . I was getting very low readings and sometimes I was in a minus value They sent me a new unit it worked for a few days then started doing the same again I finally had a refund I did want to give them a 3rd chance but in their recent communication with myself I was told ORP will not be on their future products I use hanna and I am confident with its performance matey All the best Jiffster 👍🏼👍🏼

Interesting. I've already run into a few issues too so my initial positivity has been quelled somewhat. I've dropped them some questions. Hanna do an ORP meter specifically ? Cheers 😊👍

@@OrchardKoi I had issues with the temp as well that completely went way out also the PH went down to 3.5 obviously my fish would be dead if that was the case If it would work accurately it would be a Awsome product Yea hanna do different types I have a ORP only meter just need to calibrate every so often

Hi Dave, nice comparison of the two meters. I was tempted by the multi parameter at one stage but then decided not to take the plunge as my fear was that as you have just showed. With the Kactoily, I did multiple tests with this and the only real stable accurate readings for me was temperature and salinity. I keep telling people with Redox meters to buy some ORP test solution for platinum probes to test the accuracy, for myself the Kactoily is not reliable enough for the job. My HM Digital redox meter has been spon on every time within a few milivolts after being compared with hanna's 240mV test solution. Hope you have better luck with it👍

I'm having zero luck with decent ORP so I'll check out what you've just mentioned. I don't really want to know about it per say 24 hours of the day, just occasionally be able to check the reading accurately. I'm still not holding my breath but see what few weeks brings. At least its made it past day one unlike the last 5🤣 I've got some things planned which will confirm if it works or not. Cheers for watching/commenting😊👍

@OrchardKoi well a quick tip, if you do buy one of the HM Digital handheld devices, the first thing you should do is replace the battery inside it with a new one, think its a AA off top of my head as you never know how old the battery is in the device. And calibrate it as soon as you get it👍

Jury still out for me on the Kactoily, orp seems to jump about for me and not confident on the pH unfortunately. Been in contact with them and they said they've many where a biofilm builds around the probe in spring so needs removing carefully with a soft brush to clean. But mine still jumps about. They also recommended changing the connector plugs and i got a 3 pin with 2 usb outlets so 1 less plug. Interestingly it seemed more stable on my 2k tank confused 😕. I'm going to have another look at it this week and contact them again if I'm not happy. Cheers

Interesting! I've had zero issues in the jumping yet. I need to give it some time. It's better so far than others I've tried, but the bar is very, very low. PH so far has been spot on for me. Let me know how you get on with it. 👍😊
