Swarnalata, the singer, is having a great and distinct voice and is the find of Music Director Ilayaraja. Unfortunately she died at very early age. Many of her songs are great melody hits. Another song you should listen to is "ennulle ennulle" song from the movie "Valli". Watch it. It is one of the greatest songs by Ilayaraja. Don't miss it.

I'm usually a passive watcher but this is one of my favourite ARR compositions. Very happy that you both reacted to this and I must admit, I'm a firm believer that music and melody transcends with or without lyrics. Admittedly the song mimics the choral pattern of a common love melody, and for me personally, this is the type of song you just close your eyes, blast the sound, in a quiet setting alone, and listen to without the video. In a better audio version, i.e. spotify etc without the music video - the instrumentation and relationship with the vocals work much more beautifully. Cheers!

Its sad that this is Kunal's only big hit before he killed himself (as reported by mainline media)! On 7 February 2008, Kunal was found hanging from the ceiling in his Mumbai apartment by actress Lavina Bhatia. The apparent suicide was challenged by his father Rajendra Singh who claimed that the body showed signs of suspicious bruising! Three years later, Swarnalatha ( the lead female playback singer in this song) died at Malar Hospitals Ltd Adayar, Chennai at the age of 37, on 12 September 2010. She had Idiopathic lung disease. Both died at very young age! That's sad!
