in my opinion , the strongest villain in naruto is Masashi Kishimoto . He single handedly destroyed the entire series without even fighting

Kaguya is a perfect example of how power doesn't make the villain. Zabuza, despite being mid tier at best, was a far superior villain to Kaguya. What makes a villain are the more subtle aspects of their character. Personality, presence, impact, depth, etc. These are the things that make good villains. You can control as many dimensions as you want, but as long as you still have the personality of a rock you'll never be a good villain.

I think a lot of this relates to Kishi's bad habit of killing characters off too early. Itachi? Killed off too soon. Nagato? Killed off too soon. Danzo? Killed off too soon. Madara? Killed off too soon. All four of those antagonists had the potential to be so much more than what they were, but Kishi just has a bad habit of killing characters off too soon. Except for Obito. He didn't kill him off soon enough.

Nagato was a great villain until the very end when Kishi ruined him.

Nagato was the best Villain in the series. He had a great motivation, he had ties with Naruto being a fellow Pupil and killed Jiraiya, Had the power and Destroyed the Leaf Village and unique powers, He even had great character development. Really felt like the series could of just end after Naruto defeated him.

You know you suck when you have the power to blow up planets but get hit by Sakura. Madara was way weaker but way more threatening. If it weren't for Black Zetsu, he'd have succeded and team 7 would be dead.

My main reason for liking Madara is that his ideology is realistic. Aside from the turning into a white zetsu part, I'd probably want to be under Infinite Tsukuyomi myself. Madara is a character who's too realistic for the series he's in which is why I like him so much. He'd fit much better in a seinen series tbh.

Kaguya had little development as a villain. Honestly, Madara could have been given Kaguya's abilities and they could have sealed Madara away. Introducing a antagonist after only having them around for 10 chapters is horrid writing.

Obito attacked the village sixteen years ago and put the whole story into motion since episode 1, Madara didn't tell him to do that shit, he only told him to prepare the infinite tsukuyomi and revive him at the right time, not to mention he didn't intended to revive him in the first place, that was Kabuto's doing, and black zetsu too, since he was the one who allowed Kabuto to find his corpse, Obito decided to attack the village by his own free will, Obito decided to help Itachi massacre the Uchiha clan by his own free will, Obito decided to control the 4th Mizukage Yagura by his own free will, Obito decided to start a war by his own free will, not to mention that he has more of a connection to the main characters, those being Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakashi, that Madara ever had and ever will have Madara has a connection to Hashirama and the Leaf itself for being one of it's founders but not to the main characters, and yet Obito's worth to the story is tied to Madara's?... yeah, okay bro, believe what you want to believe. Obito is Obito, just because he has a mask does not make him any less Obito. Obito and Tobi are NOT two different characters and these is what people, like yourself KOL have trouble wrapping around your head, Tobi is Obito end of story, everything he did applies to him and no one else, the only part in which I agree with was on the ideals part, in which I think your totally right, Obito did take his Ideals from Madara, and in his ambitions which were pretty dissapointing that 30% was world peace and the other 70% was Rin, in everything else I disagree with you. Kisame was always one of my favorite Naruto characters since the beginning. I liked his outlook on the world.

For me, I rate the villains as to how they changed the story for the better, and so in this order I say; 1. Madara, because his scheme is played throughout the story (Put aside black Zetsu/Kaguya/Obito for the moment). 2. Nagato, for changing the game in the Naruto universe. Up until the Pain arc, nobody had been more feared and had a more than legit reason to be evil. I think Nagato asked tough questions to Naruto, and with the death of Jiraiya the impact was felt more, How can you overcome hatred in the face of overwhelming power etc. 3 Orochimaru, Persistent, entertaining and powerful. His motives are unique to the series and vital to half the story and beyond.

Part 1 villains were good, part 2 villains are meh ( yes, even Madara) Kaguya is a great example of how power is not enough to make a villain imposing.

Honestly Nagato was my favorite character until he fuckin revived everyone. Other than that he was my #1 he was just so epic.

In my opinion from the power standpoint, While Kaguya does have the most chakra and raw power, she lacks technique compared the other villains. To me in overall combat ability she is below Madara because he had more technique and did more things with his power.

In part one kabuto was a mystery. Like when he got cut and mentioned his "old self" in the forest of death. And his assassination attempt on sasuke seemingly meant to stop Orochimaru. But kishi didn't go into it

Kisame was a fucking boss. My favorite akatsuki member because he did what sasuke and his team FAILED to do and that was defeat killer bee. And he even had power afterwards from getting hit by afternoon tiger. Plus his sword was very unique/awesome lol.

Kaguya had everything going for her. Badass character design, power, historical relevance, etc. All the pieces were in place for her to be a compelling villain. And I was more than willing to give her a shot even though I resented her for taking away Madara who in my opinion is the best villain of the series. But somehow, some way...Kishi managed to fuck it up. I'm not that creative when it comes to fictional writing. However, I am positive that I could've written Kaguya better than Kishi did. And I don't think it would be very challenging. She was already set up to be a quality villain. It's baffling to me. Minimal effort should've been required to write her properly. Smh

wtf, Kabuto worse villain in the series? I don't even like him, but that's just bull, he has to at least be better than Kaguya and Obito. To just call him a clone of Orochimaru really downplays the complexity that got him to that point. He lacked any sense of identity to due being abandoned, not even a name, and when he finally gets a name and forms relationships with people, it ends up being meaningless. Feeling broken again, he searches again for a sense of identity. Then Orochimaru tells him he can find himself by finding all kinds of information. From there on he gets consumed by power,violence,and taboo in an attempt to cope with a lack of identity.

imo Danzo was the best antagonist in the series.

I kind of feel like Madara is what Aizen wanted to be in terms of being the "grand mastermind" archetype, but instead ended up being....well....what we got. Part 2 had tons of issues but if it got one thing exactly right it's that archetype, which gets screwed up so often. Madara is the only justification I'll accept for anything after the Pain arc tbh (and I actually liked Pain as a villain quite a lot, perhaps not Nagato as a character but Pain in Yahiko's body with his Six Paths as a villain is imposing as fuck).

Nice discussion vid King. I would put Madara first, followed by Orochimaru and Nagato. Obito was good when he was "Madara", but then he kind of went downhill a little. Kaguya physically was ok, her abilities wer cool, but I was expecting much more. I think that has to do with the editors wanting to wrap the fight up. If you look at Kaguya beyond the last 10 chapters though, she is pretty OP. Don't forget her will manipulation created black zetsu and the Juubi. Madara and Obito also controlled her power. As well as the SOSP, so she has caused havoc for a long time. And of course the Akatsuki were pretty good in there own right.

In terms of how good they are, main villains in Naruto go as follows: 1. Pain/Nagato 2. Madara 3. Zabuza 4. Obito 5. Orochimaru 6. Kaguya

Tsunade and Jiraiya were allied with Konoha. Logically, Orochimaru would have to overpower both of them in addition to his former sensei at the same time, if you look at a one-shot destruction of the village. This is of course despite the first two sennin travelling all over instead of strictly staying in the village. Orochimaru, like most of the Akatsuki, has been shown to be able to fight on terms with a jinchuuriki (Naruto 4-tails) without receiving severe injury. In fact, he seemed to be having fun throughout the fight. If you figure Orochimaru as the strongest of the three, Jiraiya was able to put up quite a fight against Pain/Nagato before the secrets about him were discovered. Additionally, Sasuke killed Orochimaru when he was sick/weakened, not at 100%. I feel like nobody really knows how strong he really is, since he hasn't had the opportunity to fight at full throttle. Just trying to properly legitimize Orochimaru as a villain. When he died, the world was shaken that someone managed to do it after the news spread. He was brought back during the fourth war so he could bring back the previous hokage, but is that really his only purpose? Can't assume Kishimoto would plan that far ahead though I guess. Orochimaru is my favourite villain in this series, so I feel like he needs to be defended.

Orochimaru and Negato (minus the talk no jutsu) were my personal favorite villains. I actually loved Obito when he was still Tobi because he was a chaotic evil that found joy in what he was doing. As a person that loves the Jokers character from the Batman comics I thought Tobi was an enjoyable change of pace from the number of depressed villains in the series.

Orochimaru best villain. No other person has the same menacing on screen presence that he had. Marada is 1 of the worst written bad guys in all Shonen. Just a butt hurt selfish ideology.

Characterization has been good all around in Naruto, at least relatively. If you think about Kishimoto pooling all these characters together in his mind, its incredible. Good video. As for worst villain, probably Gato/ The demon brothers. At least Kabuto has more development than those guys. Kabuto brought Madara back. Madara, even if he was a complete badass god-man, only existed for a short duration. On a scale of who has the greatest impact on the ninja world for the majority of the story, its Obito (even if he is a "puppet" for Madaras goals.) Responsible for what I believe are the quintessential points in the story: the nine-tails attack/formation of akatsuki/uchiha massacre. Also, Obito's nihlistic attitude is the stark opposite of Naruto's "Believe it", making him the anit-naruto (or the final anti-naruto, in front of Pain and old school Garra. More than them, since he was the most similar to naruto). I just feel sorry for Obito. ....and then theres Sasuke.

Alright, I'll take that. One thing that I think would have been a good talking point is with the main villains of Naruto and there lackeys. You kinda mentioned it but skimmed over it as well. Zabuza being one of the first villains, had a lackey that supported his ideals and would die for them, Haku. Orochimaru had his dozens of lackeys but the notable ones Kimimaro and Kabuto being the most loyal. This trend of master mind and their lackeys/followers continues throughout the entire series. I could argue that Orochimaru is also a follower of Black Zetsu. We've never clearly understood why Orochimaru and Danzo obsessed over the Uchiha and Senju powers, Danzo not so much on the Senju. Orochimaru experimented on Senju DNA and we ended up with Yamato/Tenzo. He desperately tried to get his hands on both Itachi and Sasuke's eyes. We now know that when the Senju and Uchiha merge they gain the powers of the Rennigan (only part of the Hagoromo's). Orochimaru even tried to get Kimimaro's body, who is a direct descendant of Kaguya. So to me all of the villains spawn from Black Zetsu/Kaguya. From Black Zetsu the villains, in there own way, try to obtain Hagoromo/Kaguya's power. Do you agree?

I think its a tie beetween madara and orochimaru. they have an aura around them that strikes fear. madara himself has caused panic via his name and he was strict business when accomplishing his goals. orochimaru is my favorite because he has no morals/he does what he does because it is pleasure to see chaos unfold. that itself is a true villain, a guy who is sick enough to use people to satisfy his thirst for knowledge and destruction. He is a mystery, a serpent that hides in the grass, he is immortal but doesn't realize that...yet he still wants more.

I'd rate these villains in terms of characterization & motivation first, and things like story threat & personality second. That being said... Madara=>Nagato>Orochimaru>Obito>Kaguya. (Obito's that low because even though he did have more characterization, it was SLOPPY)

Psycho Sasuke deserves a shout out as a villain. I personally believe his close relationship with Naruto and the fact that we've been with since chapter 3 makes him the perfect final villain of the series.

Looking back, Kaguya was the villain this series needed. If you look at all the other villains, they all represented the dark side of the ninja system... but the ninja system originated from the abilities used to defeat Kaguya. The ninja system isn't perfect, but you can't just get rid of it because in the Naruto world threats like Kaguya and the rest of her clan will attack whether or not there are ninjas to defend this world or not. Only an outside threat could've united the ninja world. If it was just Madara, than the village he helped found (Konoha) and his last living relative (Sasuke) would've been in the cross-hairs after this war. Whether or not she was written well is a problem we can dump on Kishi.
