Story behind abonded king kothi palace Residence of last nizam highness mir osman ali khan This king kothi palace Tiles specially purchase from Italy

King kothi palace has three main building
1.osman mansion
2.Nazri bagh also known as purdah gate
3.Mubarak mansion Clock gate and sarf e qaas
A nobleman by the name Kamal Khan constructed the palace as his personal residence. And had engraved the initials K K on the doors, windows, and other furniture. The Nizam VII Mir Osman Ali Khan was impressed with the mansion, acquired it and declared it his Royal Residence. But it went against the Nizam’s pride to have the initials of some other nobleman at his Royal Residence, and it would involve lot of rework to replace the glass/furniture. He issued a farman declaring that the K K was now King Kothi meaning King’s Mansion. That is how the name King Kothi came to be.
The Nizam, according to him, was a stickler for punctuality and protocol. “One day Mrs Indira Gandhi came to the King Koti palace without an appointment and sat in the portico. The Nizam was immediately informed about it,” Mr Mansoor Ali said.
Standing at a distance, he says he heard the Nizam ask Mrs Gandhi, “Beti kaise aye achanak (Daughter, how come you made a surprise visit?)”. Mrs Gandhi replied with a smile, “Beti baap ke ghar me puch ke ati hai (Should a daughter seek father’s permission to meet him)?”
“Sarkar laughed and welcomed her. Sarkar also gave 5,000 kg gold to Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri when he appealed for donations (during the war effort),
After his accession to the throne in 1911, he continued to stay at the palace and did not move to Chowmahalla Palace where his father lived.
The eastern half, now occupied by a state government hospital, was used by the Nizam for official and ceremonial purposes.
The King Kothi complex has various European styles. The canopies over windows, the intricate woodwork, the sloping tiled roofs in octagonal pyramid shapes of the Ghadial Gate complex, and the classical semicircular arches are among the characteristic features of King Kothi.
As mentioned earlier, the King Kothi Complex has remained in use for offices and Hospital.

Thanks aamer bhai for letting us know about the history of King Kothi Palace. Felt really sad looking at it's current condition. Our Government should start preserving and restoring these historical monuments for the future generations to see and acknowledge the greatness of our city. I am born and bought up in king kothi and just so close to palace side .I know much about nizam history coz my mom and dad's wedding was arranged by nizam and beautiful house was given to my parents at that time . We are so greatful to his highness .

Very tragic. The whole King Kothi complex should have been restored and maintained to its old Glory. It would be a tourist magnet and also heritage would have been preserved. Somewhere, India Govt and the State Govt have lost these invaluable treasures forever.

The Islamic rulers too spent big on mighty palaces, forts, Idgahs, Maqbaras, mosques, and memorials. Times change, rulers change and obviously the religion of the rulers determine the kind of monument or statue that will come up.

Nizam son inlaw mothmim saab was my fathers friend. My father use to meet him in king koti place. Sometimes he use to take also. It was beautiful inside. Feel sooo sad to c place in dis condition😢

Well done Aamer its exactly what i would always say and write save our glorious past it will be a wonderful tourist attraction and build the economy of Hyderabad.......I never had a chance to go in after athe age of 6or 7.....my grandma used to work there as a nurse to one of the ladies.....this time when i come i so much want to see the remaing two that stand now we will never know when they will bring it down......

Both Tipu & Nizam were despotic, fanatic,power hunter rulers as well as British colonial ruler,though last one is fair amongst worst,at least British did not betrayed their master king by treachery like Tipu's father did with his employer king of Mysore/Sri Rangapattanam.It was a fight between selfish saints for self interest.

Adaab, hats off to you, very well explained janab, I don't think people actually know the real name of KK, It is so sad to see the iconic building in poor shape. I had been to Austria have seen palaces in Vienna they're well preserved , in Salzburg there are buildings from 800 century very well kept the entire city is a major tourist destination. I wish Govt of Telangana takes serious action in taking care of history of Hyderabad's nostalgic buildings Mazher Khan Smithville ON Canada

king kothi bring bad luck to Nizam 7, unless and until kings ruled Hyderabad estate from Old part of Hyderabad city they continued as golden period till end of their life’s, but when someone tried & shifted administration and King palace crossing Musi river they lost kingdom bring bad luck, we seen fallen of Nizams era after shifting, Present Old city always brings good luck for Nizam’s Era.
