Yes and No. What the mind wants and what the body can deliver are two different things, if your not recuperating in the long run you will be over-training regardless of how "excited" and motivated you are to train, yes..you do need this mentality to win but it must be calculated correctly and not just done for the sake of the more is better i think faith.

The thing is, when you've been training over 20 years (like Kai) and you've pretty much reached your max, the effort at that point only maintains muscle. You don't really get much bigger (or rounder) at that point. Also, take into consideration Phil only spent 8 years bodybuilding to become Mr. Olympia, while guys like Jay Cutler actually spent over 15 years to become Mr. Olympia. That's how good Phil Heath is.

Phil had to defeat a washed out 15 year into bodybuilding Jay, hence took 8 years. Jay took 15 because he had to defeat Ronnie. Phil is good, definitely not the best there is though.
