We decided to take off for 3 days or maybe more... the weather looked great and it was great until the Friday afternoon when we arrived at Donegal house just north of Kaikoura.... the wind suddenly blew up a storm and blew our top hatch off smashing the mountings etc..... we were lucky and not the worst hit, other vans suffered a lot more damage...... I was able to cover it with a temporary cover and drive home with care.
