Nemophila only does bangers and actually do a lot of different styles (even mix in some rap from time to time) Revive and Raitei are great next songs if you're intrigued to listen to more Nemophila (BTW the rabbit hole of Japanese bands is deep if you dare to go down there). It's fun to expand your mind a bit outside the comfort zone (even I wasn't into metal until I discovered J Metal) and the Japanese rock/metal scene is blowing up. Lets get that 1k soon, another thing that's nice about the live stream is that for each request you can do a little intro and then later go and chop it up and post them to YT easily. Fun reaction. Dragon Phly is a legend! Nemophila isn’t always this heavy and not all their songs have screaming vocals (though she can indeed scream like that live). Raitei is a good choice to try next.

So this is the current state of the art of Japanese all female metal, which is a far bigger thing than most people realize. The reason it evokes "anime" in you is because J-Rock chord progressions are a particular thing and are different from typical Western music making the sound easy to associate with similar progressions such as anime themes. A band that took that and ran with it are Hanabie who did a fake anime song on their album and it turned out to be epic. (Want to TIE-UP) Their calling card is "We Love Sweets" in a similar way to Nemophila's being this song. You should check it out to open your eyes even more to what Harajuku has to offer. Nemophila are also very diverse, they are a group of experienced and talented musicians in their own right so Nemophila is a bit of a super group and I think you can see that with their super tight performances and obvious skill. Yes, they shine brightly live and have finally proved it in front of a live audience - they knocked it out of the park and into the next town, they ROCK. If you can't find a Nemophila track you like then basically you just don't like music.

Mayu is one of the best singer I have ever heard. Even better you never know what voice her is going use. She asked her friends to help record some demos after the band she was in broke up. Oh, she doesn't speak English, she learns the lyric with help from Saki, who does. All are top flight musicians especially Saki (guitar), she is one of Japan's top guitarist and Murata Tamu (drums), again one of Japan's top drummers in high demand as a session drummer. They meshed from the beginning plus enjoying performing together. Nearly an instant hit on YT especially in the US and Europe. They are scheduled to perform at the Aftershock Rock Festival in Sacramento, California. Hoping for a tour in the US after the festival. Next- React to "Monsters", Mayu is using a totally different voice. There are 200+ Rock/Metal bands in Japan, most all female. Interested???

It is new-ish, but not totally new. I think it came out February 2021, give or take. And although there are post-production effects on her voice (like reverb, etc, the same effects every singer gets in post production), there are no filters, it's her voice.

I don't find it offensive, it's just not saying much to say something's "anime". To me that's like saying it sounds like a movie score, since the soundtrack to a romantic comedy or an action flick have very little in common, and anime is just as varied. That said, i've not been listening to Metal that long but it has very much won me over, so much so that it's most definately my favorite genre now. If you want to check out more NEMOPHILA, you already have a few suggestions, and it depends on what you're looking for. RAITEI is somewhat similar, as is REVIVE, but songs like HYPNOSIS or LIFE are quite different. If you're more into the guitar stuff, SAKI played in Mary's Blood, among other bands, and they too have some great, great tracks, a KZfaq favourite seems to be MARIONETTE. The list goes on and on, there's LIGHT BRINGER, UNLUCKY MORPHEUS, BRIDEAR, Yajima MAI, BABYMETAL, Dragon Guardian, FATE GEAR, LOVEBITES, and that's just the metal side of things. Then there's Sokoninaru for really crazy music, which i love. All that's not even mentioning BAND-MAID, TRiDENT, Polkadot Stingray, Gacharic Spin, tricot, ASTERISM... there's just too much good music out of japan to choose... 😵‍💫🤘
